Hi All,

Just to let you many of such H1-B sufferers are now planning / or have already initiated the process which leads them to move NORTH in a couple of years max. we might witness a new flood of techies in Canada soon.

There are poeple who are considering the Work permit path as well.

And all this is happening ... Thanks to BIG time VIsa Retrogression.
Ever since the OCT '05 visa bulletin got published, I have at least 9 of my freinds sought some tips on applying for Canadian PR and 6 have laready applied and others are follwing (waiting for Police certificates).

You can guess the number now, as to how many might have already applied.

So, having said that, it is not just money, better life and blah, blah ...
but a sense of "Social Security of them and their families" is also driving this factor.

With the retrogression in mind everyone knows GC is a minimum 7-8 years away ( for priority dates of 2002-2003) think of later guys ...

During these time H1-B is a hell, in all terms , right from applying, stamping, Visitng India etc etc , there are troubles all the way. Not to mention the exploitation by the employers.

I am Canadian PR myself and in USA on 7th year H1-B, now lost all hopes of the "GC", since my priority dates are Aug'04 and Dec'04, ( both Labor cases pending at BEC's) and I have not yet applied under PERM. I do not see any benefit under that at all, since I will not be qualified as EB2 under PERM.

SoI have decided to move to Canada,- following the completion of the current assignment. -
I have no complaints whats ever witht my employer
who is indeed a very professional one and absolutely no hassles , no gimmicks,
But ... then I am coming to Canada. thinking there is no future in US.

some of the perceptions are that US GOVT is deliberately doing all these ( retrogression etc) to discourage the Indians and Chinese who are now a dominant force among the American workforce, which. they think is causing joblessnesss of american citizens. and also to make visa numbers available to legitimise the 3 million odd illegal immigrants from mexico side.

-- Ofcourse what ever be the reason - GC is now " On the Moon " and out of reach for many aspirants.

Any thoughts?

I agree with naudurivsm. Now US GC is dream. May be in 2008 election time there will be some change in that law. But people like me and naudurivsm who already done with 6 yrs in US there is no point to stay here and stick with all these money suckers body shoppers.

I am wondering how you guys feel about these body shopping shops? They will have good business or not. Now days they are filing lot of H1 for MS guys.

Hmm... the US government and the country as a whole seem to be in a downward spiral with no hopes of ever ending anytime soon. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bush administration weasels its way back into office for yet another term. Even though you can only be elected for 2 consecutive terms, it wouldn't be the first time they would've used underhanded ways and bent laws here n there to benefit themselves...

As for having moved to Canada from the States, I have similar sentiments as that of seenappa. I think I've mentioned this on some other post similar to this one that Canada seems to be accepting of other cultures instead of just being tolerant about it like USA. That alone can make a HUGE difference in a person's day to day life and how they are treated and looked @ by their fellow citizens. :)

Is the visa retrogression only for citizens of India and China or for everybody no matter what country you are from? I was talking to some of my friends about it who are not from India or China and they told me that the problem is only for citizens of India, China, and the Philippines.

Is it going to be a faster process if you are not an Indian or a Chinese or a Filipino?

Please let me know.

Thanks

Let me understand this a little better. What you are saying is that it does not matter what citizenship you have at this moment as long as you were born in those three countries, it is going to take forever to get a GC. Am I right?

For example: if someone was born in India, but has a Canadian or a British passport, he/she is affected by visa retrogression, right?

Visa Retrogression goes by the country of birth not by country of citizenship. It affects all canadian citizens who were born in india or china.
