Hi, I would like to sponsor my wife's brother from India. The following
is a text is from the website of immigration Canada.
You can sponsor relatives or family members from abroad
if they are:
spouses, common-law or conjugal partners 16 years
of age or older;
parents and grandparents;
dependent children, including adopted children;
children under 18 years of age whom you intend to
adopt;
children under guardianship;
brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces or
grandchildren who are orphans; under the age of 18
and not married or in a common-law relationship;
or
you may also sponsor one relative of any age if
you do not have an aunt, uncle or family member
from the list above who you could sponsor or who
is already a Canadian citizen, Indian or permanent
resident.
Both my wife and I are Canadian citizens. My wife has
no family in Canada. My wife's brother in India is 35
years old and married with 2 kids. He is currently
unemployed. As far as we know, he is not a skilled
tradesman.
Can we (my wife) sponsor him as she has no family here
in Canada?
If not under the family class, is there any other way?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Your wife can't sponsor the brother because she has you in Canada.
The only other way is if he qualifies as a business immigrant.

Thanks for your reply...
I currently do own a small business and would employ him in it. Could that not be considered as aranged employment?
Or should he have to bring funds and start a new business. Perhaps with me as a partner?
ravi
what about Farmer's category??
He neeeds to meet certain minimum requirements to come as a business immigrant. Arranged employment is very difficult and will most likely be turned down by HRDC.
If he has 2 yrs experience managing a farm, he may qualify as a farmer under the self-employed category. he will also need to show lots of cash [his own] to show his ability to buy a farm in Canada.
