Hey All,
My Parents are going to apply for Canadian PR under Independent catagory as they can now claim points for me being a Canadian PR. I know I can sponsor them but I plan to move to Canada in 2-3 years and so this way, by the time I move, hopefully they would have recieved their visas too. Anyhow, I was going through the CIC website and I noticed that in the "Family Members" section, there is no mention of Parents at all! My Grandmother (Dad's mother) is nearly 80 years old. Will CIC allow my Parents to sponsor her or not? My younger sister is 21 years old but is still studying and is completely dependent on my parents. Please advise.
Thx
DT

Microsoft - Which end of the stick do you want today?
- your sister will be eligible as a dependent and included in the application.
- once in canada, they can sponsor your grand ma. they'll need to show the minimum income required by immigration at that time.
- alternatively, you can sponsor your grand ma. you may be in a better position financially.
- for now, your parents can't add her in the application. when they get their visas, they may try to obtain a visitor's visa for her.
- there are other legal avenues that are a bit more time-consuming to explain here.
