I had applied in June 2000 in the independent skilled worker category from the New Delhi CHC in India. In 2003 I got married and added my wife in the application. Now she is expecting and the child is due in May 2004. I have recently received an interview waiver letter and am expecting medicals soon.
My queries are:
1) Am I still in the skill independent category or in the family class category?
2) Medicals - Does the new born require medicals to be done?
Can my spouse and I get our medicals done before we receive the papers from CHC...this is because I believe medicals would be harmful for the child from the 7th month onwards and the medicals may come from CHC at that time itself. And I would like to save time and not postpone the medicals.
Since you have not got your landing papers, you would be considered in Skilled Category only. You need to send birth certificate, copy of passport, photographs, visa processing fees of the new born (once the baby is born) . On receipt of these papers, CHC would issue medical papers for the new born. You cannot send any info about the newborn in advance.

Hello All,
I have now recieved my medicals and I am supposed to get it done by April 2004. As you remember my wife is expecting by May 10th 2004.
Is it possible for me to go ahead and just do my medicals only? And later, my wife and new born baby can do it in May/June...Is this possible?
What are the options that I have? I was told that I should ask the Visa office to wait...but will they? Is it possible for me to get the Visa office to postpone the medicals by 2 months or so? Will it effect anything?
We generally advise our clients to conclude such examinations within 60-90 days, unless an earlier deadline is specifically stated. Delays beyond such time may risk refusal of the case due to non-compliance. You might be asked to resubmit proof of financial support; Family size increases i.e. 1+2=3?
If all required materials for your dependent(s) had been provided along with the payment of fees, then immigration officials will ask for their medicals. The medical processing time for very young children is often shorter than for older applicants. If all other processing in the case was completed, therefore, it would be expected that the issuance of landing documents would take place more quickly after such examinations are concluded.
In certain cases, the immigration officials may extend examinations at their discretion.
Thanks for the reply.
What if I return the medicals back to CHC and tell them the facts about the new to-be-born. And then request them to send a new set of medicals for all three of us (myself, my wife and kid) after the birth and ofcourse I would send the requisite docs for the baby as well.
Will this result in too much delay?? How much time do you think they will take if I send them the baby's application in June 1st week....?
