Nishit,
Diclaimer: these are my opinions and may not hold true for anyone else :)

1. DONT WE LIKE OUR CULTURE?

J3D>yes

2.ARENT WE ALIENS HERE?

J3D>No...I am not. I have as much right to be here as anyone else except maybe the Aboriginals.

3.DONT WE LIKE TO CELEBRATE DIWALI ,HOLI ,DUSSHERA AND NOT HALLOWEN CHRISTMAS AND THANKSGIVING?

J3D>All these are celebrated by us...some are more toned down than others but celebrating more has only enriched my experiences

4.DONT WE MISS THE WARMTH OF INDIA OUR NATION?

J3D>No(i do prefer to live in a warmer climate). I miss my family. For me both India and Canada are important parts of my identity. Like having a mother and a father. Your mother will always be there for you, sometimes it takes your dad to impart tough love :). Both have taught me important truths and made me what I am today and I would hate to choose between the two.
Anyway a nation and boundaries are manmade...I'm reminded of the astronaut who mentioned that from out there you would not be able to see any boundaries.

5.DONT WE LIKE TO CELEBRATE INDIAN VICTORIES ?

J3D>Yes.

I KNOW THE ANSWER IS YES.

J3D>not for everything. Never assume :)

WE HAVE ALWAYS PERCEIVED THAT WESTERN PEOPLE HAVE A BETTER LIFESTYLE THEN WE HAVE IN INDIA TRUE.HERE EVERYONE HAS A CAR BUT ITS NESSASITY HERE AS PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS NOT AS GOOD AS IN INDIA .WE USE COOKING RANGE ,MICROWAVE, HEATERS, AIRCONDITIONERS AND ITS NOT COMMON IN INDIA TRUE.ARENT THIS THINGS ONLY MATERIALISTIC.
WE SAY THAT WE ARE DOING ALL THAT FOR OUR CHILDREN.

J3D>Dont know if you read my previous post. Nevertheless, I think they are getting increasingly common in India. I also know lots of folk in India who are more materialistic than I ever have been.

JUST REMEMBER ONE THING

IF MONEY IS LOST NOTHING IS LOST
IF HEALTH IS LOST SOMETHING IS LOST
IF CHARACTER IS LOST EVERYTHING IS LOST.

J3D>i agree..dont loose your character...rather build it up wherever you are. A country cannot decide your character. You probably can!

STAYING IN THIS SOCIETY DO WE FEEL THAT OUR KIDS GONNA HAVE THE SAME VALUES THAT WE HAVE BEEN BOUGHT UP WITH.

J3D>kids will never have exactly the same values their parents had. Wherever they are. All we can do is plant the seeds and hope it takes strong roots. With Indias changing economic landscape you will see a lot more differences in the values held by the different generations. There was a time when divorce was inconceivable in India. I now know some friends in India who have divorced their spouses. Also know many who are very much living a western value based lifestyle in India. I know many more who aspire to be able to do precisely the same thing.
I do not think any society has claims on the perfect value system. Every society, like every individual, has something positive to offer. They also have negatives. The challenging part is to try to empower yourself and your kid to know the difference.

HERE WE SACRIFICE OUR ENTIRE LIFE FOR OUR FUTURE(READ:KIDS) AND WHEN WE REALLY NEED THEM DURING OUR OLD AGE THEY DONT HAVE TIME FOR US AND THEY DONT WANT US .

J3D>You think this does not happen in India.? I think maybe you are talking about human values and not Indian values? We have some Polish friends who like us believe that our kids learn how to treat us based on how we treat our own parents in their old age.

SO WHY NOT ENJOY LIFE AS IT GOES.

ONE MORE THING I WOULD LIKE ALL OF US TO MAKE A NOTE OF

LIFE IS SOMETHING WHICH HAPPENS TO YOU WHEN YOU ARE BUSY MAKING PLANS .
J3D>Now where have I heard that before :)

FINAL CONCLUSION

AAJAR POOT KUPUT TOOH KYON PAISA RAAKHE
AAJAR POOT SUPUT TOOH KYON PAISA RAAKHE

MEANING IF YOU KID IS A GOOD KID THEN HE WILL MAKE HIS WAY IN HIS LIFE AND IF YOUR KID IS A SPOILT BRAT NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU KEEP HE WILL BECOME A PAUPER.

J3D>right. and it does not matter if he is in India or Timbuktoo (sp?)

SO WHAT I FEEL IS THAT INDIA IS AS GOOD AS EVER AND IT IS JUST BECAUSE OF THE PERCEIVED IMAGE OF THE WEST E COME HERE AND THEN WE ARE MENTALLY STUCK AND ARE NOT OPEN TO THE IDEA OF MOVING BACK.

J3D>not for me..and many others on the board. I know some people in my field who are stagnating there. Things are changing and maybe it will work out. I'm glad I did not wait and have more opportunities now than I would have if I stayed back.

IF SOMEONE IS STRUGGLING TO MAKE A LIVING IN INDIA HE SHOULD COME HERE ELSE INDIA IS GR8 AS EVER.

J3D>dont agree. If you like a challenge move here. If you cannot handle it move back.

Also capslock has a place in the world of computers :)

india itself a country of versatility . so nothing seems starnge to them . they can adjust to any situation.with any kind of people . software is good , bringing oppertunities but its not bAD TO LOOK FOR NEW OPPORTUNITIES THE WAY BRITISH AND FRENCH DID BY MOVING TO CANADA IN 1700 LOL. MAY BE WE CAN PROVIDE A BIT OF CULTURE TO THIS CULTURLESS COUNTRY . U KNOW . WE CAN DEFINATELY GIVE 1000 YEARS FROM OUR 6000 . NO PROBLEUM.
