I can bring Dal makhni. As far as playing holi..lets at least have some dry gulal . Not messing up floors or faces but just a pinch on foreheads and cheeks.
I hope the place is not very interior of Mississagua coz we are at Islington avenue.

Really wanted my kids to know and see what HOLI is all about. Can you please tell me the exact place where you decide to meet for the pot luck. I'm in mississauga near square one.

Count us in too 2 adults 2 kids.

Also we have some place available for these kind of get-together in our condo, let know if wanna book that.

Hi Pink,

Condo place will be great for this event, however we dont know how big a place we need as yet. Just reserve it for now ..for Saturday March 22nd, but also know there could be a change of plans later on.

Regarding what Holi is all about, if someone can volunteer a story on why we celebrate holi, that would be great. Any ideas are also welcomed as to how to keep the kids entertained, while adults chat and enjoy the food.

Regarding colors, only dry colors in form of Tilaks and Tikkas must be preferred unless you all want to go home covered in color from top to bottom.

And about take-out food, I would say that if anyone doesn't want to cook, they can bring take-out food, but whether or not we should cater it and share costs will depend on all participants.

And I will bring:

- Rice
- Yogurt Raita (specially for kids)
- Music CDs

We also need someone to get a CD Player for music, and plastic cutlery.

For adults, i am thinking a musical chair game, whoever looses will sing, dance, do shayeri, say a joke, etc.

For kids, i still couldn't figure out.

I'll check the availability of the party place for 22-March and will post the message at the earliest.

Also can we avoid anthing made from Chick Peas, Channa Dal and Besan in the Pot Luck. My little one is allergic to those food products.

Also the party area allows only 20 people at a time, so if the numbers goes above that, then unfortunately we cannot get this place and will have to look for other options.

For kids games like drawing competition, tail the monkey, musical chair, spoon and marbles, freeze dance and HOLI puzzles. How does this sound.

Sounds fun. We can also have Pictionary for all (kids and adults) !
We can start off with intoducing ourselves and our families(where we come from ,how long have been in Canada etc) followed by some words on Holi accompained by some song on holi (alongwith some gulal /holi milan)with Snacks and drinks on the floor.
Then we can have all games followed by lunch. We can have games depending on how much time do we get. Please let us know where in mississagua are you located coz we will be travelling from Islington.
