I heard thet there is a shoratage of teachers in Canada and hiring teachers from other countries(India). Is it True?
i am a B.Ed. teacher in India and wanted to come to Canada on work permit.
Is there any chance to come Canada like this?
thanx in advance.
looking from another angle there seems to be a shortage of humans in Canada, that's why they have to import more than 200K humans each year.
Which ever field you look at, they seem to report that they have a shortage for.
Fun apart, just having a B.Ed might not be enough to get a school to sponsor for work visa. U'll require to have Master's and/or M.Ed (Atleast that's what I thk).
The other way is come here as an immigrant.
According to immigration Canada there is a shortage of people for every kind of jobs but the reality is that most of the educated persons arriving to Canada end up doing labour jobs all there lives ?

"Ever dance with the devil in the pale moon light?"
"I always ask that of all my prey."
"I just like the sound of it."
It is pure market dynamics.
As immigrants tend to be upwardly mobile, the constant turnover in odd jobs makes for actual / transitory shortage of manpower in these categories.
Due to this constant "shortage" in odd jobs category, many people tend to pick these jobs for some time. Once they get a better deal, they move and the job is once again available for someone else.
Hi There
I dont think there is a shortage of teachers (at least in Western Canada) I understand that there is a demand for high school teachers (particularly minority women who can teach science/math subjects). If you are an elementary teacher then be aware that the market is saturated with Canadian grads that do start out (as u may) being on call only to substitute. If you are a woman who teaches high school sciences then my suggestion is to try provinces other than BC, Ontario and Quebec. You may find better opportunities.
Talk to or email the Provincial teachers association in the provinces you wish to move to. They can give you more information regarding evaluating ur degree..and what the labour market demand is in that area. Whatever route you decide..do your research carefully to avoid surprises.
To answer ur question: It is highly unlikely u will be given a work permit to teach - there are many teachers already in the country working on call that are looking for full time work. Again this is from my knowledge of this occupation.
