Think Positive-2
By:

Hi readers.

First of all thanks for reading my articles and rate my article.

I am again here to write on same topic but today also one of our reader submit article about labour job and all

Is that only thing you have to do here? You don’t have any other option than labour? If you are educated like doctor, engineer etc, why don’t you qualify or equivalent exams here? why are you afraid of these exams? Govt here even support for OCAP and UI as all desi know very well and as I said earlier if you are doctor from canada, Indian govt won't allowed you do practice as doctor there you have to clear exam there too and there no OCAP or UI for you. Then why you expect from here, I agree that here labour job and all, but have you found any discrimination for work? even manager and owner do mob and all then what’s new. So think positive.

And canada is good country for educated no dought but you have to qualify. Jow much you were getting in india? 5000Rs salary for teachers? 4000Rs for engineers? If you are experienced than you can get 10000Rs. Thats it? And here how much you are getting? What is future there for your children? Violence? Polution? I am not against india. I love my country my place. But I am against those who live in canada who want to live all life but they dont like canadian life? why so? If you dont like then why you are still here? why no one wants to go back india? Thats it if you like my article just rate me. And if you have any question do not hesitate email me at

The kind of salaries you are talking about exist even today but there are teachers who are earning 20,000 per month also. I am not an engineer & I was in sales yet in 2000 I was earning around 20,000 per month.

I am one of those guys who is leaving Canada & going back.

Rgds.

I have worked 10-15 diff. labour jobs and still doing occassionaly to survive and get my kids education etc etc. I don't see my bosses cleaning toilets. They just get angry at us if they are dirty. So I really dont know what u r talking about.

I don't know the process of foreign doctors working in India, but let's talk about IT engineers. Is C, C++, Visual Basic, JAVA any diff. in India, Pakistan, China, USA than to what it's in Canada. US ppl don't have problems for accepting them. Why Canada.

Why does this country have so much problem about Resume etc. What do they want on it, What we did or butterflies and roses on them. Doesn't again seem to be a big issue with other coutries.

Then if a person has a little bit more experience as a bank manager (which anyways he will not get out here) he applies for a starting position he's over qualified and same with other things.

These idiots call you for an interview, waste all ur time and also the money u spend on going and cell phone charges etc, just to hear in the end that we are not Canadian born and experienced. God how I feel like smacking their faces. Don't these ppl. know how to read a resume. Or maybe the truth is they don't know how to read period.

Engineers from Canada go to Europe, US etc to work and they get a job, because the only thing the ppl. out there care about is that can these ppl. perform. Not how many flowers and butterflies u put on resume.

How many ppl after coming here have the money etc to update themselves to the Canadian Standards. Naturally working on good jobs you want to give it a try to get a good job. So why should as soon as I step out of the plane start cleaning bathrooms. By the time we realise what is happening, we are out of money. We then HAVE to do these jobs to survive. Most have to do 2 jobs a day to survive. Caught in this vicious cycle it becomes hard to update ourselves and support our families. By the time we are a bit settled, it's like 6-7 yrs outdated as we couldn't even keep up with our past. Thus this is how our lives become.

Which world do you come from. In 1995 most teachers in good public schools were earning 12000+.

I used to earn more than 1.9 lakhs a year before moving here. One of my friends was making 1.3 and another was making 4.5. Gosh if I was there today I would have been living like a king.

Give me the money which i lost, all the years of experience all the money my parents paid to have me educated in good schools universities etc and I'll go back. U can't expect me to go empty handed with all lost. Isn't it bad enough that from being Managers etc we are/were cleaning toilets doing labour jobs that now we go back to our countries with nothing in our hands and all experience and education lost in these 5-10 yrs.

The country doesnt have a problem with resumes. If you want your resume to stick out to an employer (out of say a 1000 resumes) you will want to have the best presentation..the easiest to read format (which highlights your skills on the first half of the page) so that the average employer (who spends 2-5 seconds on each resume) puts your resume into the 'yes' or 'maybe' pile. Not the Rejected (because it is written in an unfamiliar format or has some other formatting problems). Its not necessarily 'fair' but its how things are generally for all people - not just Immigrants.

Your concern is not new. In the situation you mentioned above, it sounds like softskills, attitude/interpersonal skills etc are what is the concern to an employer when they indicate you lack canadian experience. Canadian experience is often used as a handy excuse (unfortunately this is the reality even if you dont like it) rather than having to point out to someone that you dont like their: (softskill).

I understand your perception. However every country has merits/demerits. Why did you not apply for US green card rather than Canadian PR?

What made you decide to leave India if you were doing well?

I disagree. If your reality in your own perception is Negative that is valid. For another person Reality can be positive - it is their perception.

You and I cannot speak about the experiences of each and every Immigrant in Canada. Reality is not a value.

Each company is doing "business".

If I am a business man, I would pay for getting the work done.
If I am a business man, I would not pay for pure qualification.

Few weeks back I had an interview with one of my dream-job-company. Those 60 mins of interview went very well, except 4-5 mins in the 4th quarter.
Anyway, the manager gave me a polished reply "We'll get back to you within next 2-3 days".

Few hours later I analyzed the interview discussion. I realized that those "4-5 mins" really spoiled my case. The manager provided few details of working environment and I gave a real "blunt" response.
Something like "Why it's like this? What support I will get", etc.

Honestly, if I were the manager I would not have hired that guy. Same thing happened. He never "got back" to me!

So, my suggestion: Always consider failure as a learning experience.

And yea, think positive. Stay positive.

I admire your ability to self analyse and understand that experience leads to learning. Often just having a positive attitude in the interview (even if you are unsure) and stating that you are flexible and openminded " can go a long way to connecting you with the employer.

My take on interviews is: The employer already knows who you are from ur resume. The interview is to determine your fit within the company's culture and business environment.

good luck in ur future job search
