I think what DIo meant is more saving potential.
You must know that there are some people, who tend to save a lot of money and not spend anything. For these kind of people, ME or SE Asia would be the best. THe co. gives them free apt., Free car, Free food (in ME) etc.. Also these kind of people generally leave their family in India and try to visit them once in 6 months to 12 months.
I know many such people.

and once again, How is this better than Canada and US if you are meeting your wife and kids once in a year .

Smiley,
You donot understand the dynamics.
If children or wife is brought to ME, SE Asia, then the person needs to spend on entertainment and school fees. These kind of people generally send money to India where the same will be 1/10th.
In Canada/USA, the employer does not give you accomodation. The people have to pay higher tax and they stay in a sharing basis. if you bring your wife to USA/Canada, then you need to find an apt.. and expenses for child and wife.
Say for example :

in ME/SE Asia :
Salary = 100K Rs. per month. Tax is 10 % (in gulf it is Tax free) . apt. is free, food is free/ cheap.Car is Free. so he saves 80 K RS. a month

In USA/CAN :
Salary =130 K Rs. a month. Tax. 25%, Sharing room, Food expenses. Transport etc..
so his savings around 60- 65K Rs. a month.
Many prefer the former. Besides in the former , there is vacation for every 6 months or 12 months with bonus/ free airfare and stuff like that.
But even in USA/CAN. there are people who save more than what they can do in ME/SE Asia. But there are not that much people who save more in USA/CAN. than ME/SE Asia.
There are also many IT people in USA/CAN. who bring their family, buy houses, intergrate with the soceity and live a happy life, even though their stay might just be temporary.. There are exceptions to everything and so what i say is not set in stone.
TK
Sidenote : This not happens only in the IT field but it is very limited in other fields. I have many IT friends from my college and from a leading software co. in the GTA and NC in USA and so my posts speak from experiences of those people.

TK is right. I was talking abt the saving potential. Well, that applies to people who wants to go back to India. If the emigrate to Canada, who knows, they may end up spending that money they saved in ME.

Desis should also look at Far East. Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia are places where they value your education and expertise.

DIO,
Thanks for agreeing with me.
As i had told before, in Saudi, My salary was Rs. 35000. I sent 28K to 30K monthly home to India. This would have been true in other regions of the gulf. The salary was Taxfree. Free car and apartment. Return flight ticket for family once in 2 years with Bonus. Now of UAE, people say that i can save around Rs. 50 K to 75K a month, after paying rent and for Car.
In Canada, i earn around Rs. 53,000 a month and my monthly spending is around Rs. 30,000 more than that.
Now people can ask me , why donot i go to Gulf or whereever. My reasoning is : who will pay for the flight ticket, job search, initial set up etc... In Canada, i have a schedule for 4 years now like paying rent, cooking, working, going to garage sales etc.. It is very hard to break the schedule and try for something different without any money. Many say that Saudi is a prison camp. Canada is more like a prison camp to me. I hate seeing gora's every day and most of the Desi's on the street are busy in minding their own business. Many of the desi's that i know are keen only on cheating me or blabbering something that irritates me.
When will Canada turn to be more of a Desi land?
TK
Sidenote : My boss and his partner also work 7 days a week. But for 3 years now, they have never bought me a cup of tea or lunch on sat. or sundays. I donot know why he is like that. In Saudi, if we work in during the weekends, we can eat whereever we like and pass the bill to the accounting dept. for payment. We used to choose the best restaurant in Town. It was like, for 8 hours of work time, we used to spend 2 hrs. on buying food and eating it. But these Gora's (esp. my boss) is very stingy. Our boss is a multi millionare but he eats only noodles for lunch or wendy's hamburger. But he drinks and smokes a lot due to pressure in work and the limited money got for so tension a work. But they have a rule of free pizza lunch for every (11) employee's birthday.
