Hi All CD's

Got my B1/B2 visa for US. Pretty simple but long affair. I always wanted to go to USA first but after 9/11...rest is history.

I was there for 5 days and when I came back I realiased what a great decision it was to settle in Canada. The only thing in USA which is better ( not always) it the money one can make.
But I think here in Canada people are making money too.

I have decided that I will not settle in USA at all inspite being an IT professional.

B1 / B2 is visitor visa, you are not authorized to work on this visa. What made you feel Canada is better compare to US is not clear from your post. Did you evalute US on factors like Professional outlook, climate, people, govt. policies, discrimination, cost, locals reaction to new person, infrastructure.....etc. It may be of great help for those who are waiting to get Canadian Citizenship and move to US.

Hi Friends

First of all thanks for replying. I was not really expecting replies so soon.

Jago_desi as for your Q I have been analysing US for all reasons like ppl , work climate atmosphere etc. All my childhood frinds are there in IT industry like me. You are right that if I want to work there I need H1b Visa. My analysis say that If i go to US it might take me 4-6 yrs to get a Green Card. The rules can change any day. I'm more secure here with PR and health coverage. Moreover I have a good job in my field and so does my wife. And I found one thing that people there are just running after money and everyone is jealous of each other while in Canada it may be the same but people here are still better specially out Asians.
So it a big risk and states like NJ or PA were very silent and different.
WEll its just a personel opinion others..

Moreover all the people I have met who are in Canada and have come from US or UK say bringing up children in Canada is better than UK or US.

So I think if you have waited 2-3 yrs for your PR for Canada why take a risk going to US afterwards and being less secure.

And last but not the least one should remember that PR status will be valid for only 2 out of 5 yrs. So if you go to US stays for 6 yrs for GC and dont get it then you loose your Canadian PR too.

Hope this helps someone.

Would love to discuss more if any one is interested.

I totaly agree with you regarding the PR and GC comparision. But what will be your views after you get your citizenship. There are couple of people here who have almost completed citizenship wait period and waiting for the day to move from Canada to US.
