Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
Thanks for going through the long article.
2013 not far away should not our govt start planning? SA is our neighbour across the Arabian Sea. What will be the implications in the social, economic, political and military spheres. Kerala alone contributes 1000s of crores as foreign exchange from Gulf. With dwindling returns NRIs may come back. Like Pakistan, SA may also start instigating fundamentalists (Many believe it already is doing). We may have to brace ourselves for invasions in the name of “freedom struggle”. Though Ghazni or Ghori may not be there, Hindus have not changed They are the same docile people expecting someone else to fight their battles. (Like Somnath, we may have attacks on prosperous cities like Bangalore said to import 1000 ton gold every year). May be portraying, worst case scenario. But it is better to be prepared.
