Hi ,
I am an international student in canada , having recently completed a bachelors degree here in April 2006 (3-4 years) .
Now say , if I am doing a certificate program for 8 months (Sept to April 2007) , am I eligible to get 1 or 2 years of post-graduation work permit(having studied almost 5 years in Canada) or a 8 month work-permit (the length of my last program , a 8-months certificate ) ?
Is the post-graduation work permit validity based on your past canadian education or only the most recent canadian degree/program ?
Thank You for your reply .
The best way to get correct answer is - Call CIC people 1 888 242 2100...
And confirm with them...
And also let us know what they say ....
Thank you
it would be based on recent program completed .. so if you complete 8 months program you would be eligible for 8 months post-grad work permit.

I will call up immigration canada & let you know about it .
I found this :
http://www.cic.gc.ca/manuals-guides/english/bulletins/ob015.html
"Special cases
In cases where a student has transferred between educational institutions, the student must have graduated from an institution described in the general eligibility criteria above, and the combined time in institutions meeting these criteria must be at least eight months. To qualify for a two-year work permit, the combined studies must amount to a minimum of two years, all of which must have been located outside MTV (including graduation).
"
Can mr.masood clarify on this ?
