If you own a Honda you might want to doublecheck to see if it's still in the driveway or parking lot.
For the second straight year, the 1999 and 2000 Honda Civics SiR 2-door hold the dubious distinction of topping this year's most frequently stolen vehicles list. The two models also had the third and fourth highest theft claims cost per vehicle. The list is put together by Canada's car insurers.
Eight cars share the distinction of being the least stolen vehicles including the 2000 Saab, 2002 Pontiac Bonneville and Ford Taurus
The Top 10 Stolen Vehicles are:
1. 2000 Honda Civic SiR 2-door
2. 1999 Honda Civic SiR 2-door
3. 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX/WRX STi 4-door AWD
4. 1999 Acura Integra 2-door
5. 1994 Honda Civic Si 2-door Hatchback
6. 1998 Acura Integra 2-door
7. 1993 Dodge Shadow Convertible
8. 1996 Honda Civic Si 2-door Hatchback
9. 2000 Audi TT Quattro 2-door Coupe
10. 1996 Chev/GMC Blazer/Jimmy S Series 2-door 4WD

Thats what I would call useless reporting. Why are these cars the most stolen? Why these years? Is it because they are easy to steal or because their parts are the most valuable. What do consumers get out of this except to think that I should avoid these cars because they are the most stolen.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

These reports are very useful for insurance companies and to car companies as well. If you notice, since 2002, Honda has developed very effective anti theft security measures which makes it difficult to steal (not impossible). It is also a guide for car buyers who are looking for second hand cars that these models will attract higher insurance premiums and also they should have extra anti theft security measures to safe guard their cars.
Trust you agree.
