Ok ...this may sound stupid.
I bought a car and then tried to get insurance. Belair (the cheapest rate) need 14 days to process the application.
Does anyone...anyone know how to get an insurance immidiately and good prices at that.It braks my heart to see the car sitting in the dealers lot.
Have a G licence but dont have an insurance record in Canada and have had the licence for only 7 months.

I have my insurance with TD Meloche Monnex. I faced a similar problem when I was getting my insurance the first time. PC asked me to send in an application to get a quote
So I contacted Meloche Monnex and got a online quote. Liked it and got the insurance over the phone with immediate effect.

TDMM ins is only if you are member of any of thier corporate accounts/associations. Try TD bank. Also the advert of Belair direct is very misleading - they promise quote of upto 5 competitors, but you cannot select the companies, they give only those that they select and most of the times it is those that are higher in premiums over Belair - and when I tried, I got just one offer from competitor..so dont know how they promise 5.

ING Bank gives immediate insurance as it is done by brokers but the rate is very high. Statefarm can also give you immediate license as it is also handled bu brokers/ agents.
IMO, Just drive the car from the Dealer to your house and park it there till you get a cheap quote. That is what i did . If you are afraid to drive in the traffic, pay a friend of yours (who has driving exp.) to do it for you.
You can get plate no. and registration done through your dealer without any insurance.

You might be able to use Dealer Plate, but I dont think you can get New Plate.

Try Insurance agents they can get you reasonable rates through TDMM
1. they make you member of a organisation there is fees for this
2.They get you group rates which are a lot cheaper .
3.Full coverage is cheaper than the rates for third party from other sources.
4. Do not buy Insurance in a hurry take your time shop around ,for someone doing it the first time it will save a lot of hard earned money
