Went to Sangam today after a long time and turns out they've dropped their prices. Its now 6.99 for the Lunch buffet, which isn't bad at all. Food is reasonable and these guys have the most variety I've seen, both veg and non-veg. Lots of desserts too.
And on Tuesdays, its a buy one get one free! Two people can have the buffet and walk out paying less than 10 dollars if they get stingy on the tip.
My Cdn. colleagues love this place.

Are you there?
One good restaurant is Shan-E-Darbar on Airport Road, just North of Derry in Brampton. Excellent selection of veg, non-veg dishes, fresh naan brought to your table, ice cream (not kulfi) included with cost of buffet. Buffet cost for dinner is approximately $11.
Another good pick in Mississauga is Daawat on Nashua Drive.
Last night I went to an indian buffet place called Novelty De Haweli, in Brampton, and the food was great, the selection was great, lots of vege dishes for all you non meat eaters and great lamb and chicken curries, including butter chicken and tandoori chicken. Fresh naans...a huge selection of pickles and condiments, raita....very delicious indian tea and a couple of very nice desserts to top it all off.
The decor was pleasant, the music very good, not too loud. I would definately go there again. And for $10 a person you can't go wrong.
One question though...are you supposed to tip the waiter guy? I mean, he isn't exactly your "server" cos you serve yourself, all he does is pick up your used plates and you don't exactly need excellent customer service skills to do that.
However, having said that, I did tip him, because he was courteous, smiled and was quick too. I tipped him because I wanted him to know that what he was doing was important too and that we appreciate it. Thats all. I think I made his day! Bless him.
What do you all think? Would you tip a guy at a buffet place?

Are you working hard, or hardly working?
I normally don't. Guess I should though.

The Cynic
A 10% tip is recommended for buffet restaurants depending on whether the host is pleasant, attentive, and provides good service. In some Indian restaurants I have noticed though the desi hosts provide good service to white Canadians they ignore desis. Or maybe its just my overactive imagination.

I have only 2 cents to contribute, not a cent more, not a cent less ;-)
10% of bill value as tip was allowed for claim in my company......so, it may be the norm....

Try overtaking child's imagination
Buffet is normally cheaper than 'a la carte' (order individual items from menu).
Buffet is also 'All you can EAT'. They offer more variety than the price.
Indian buffet are much more reasonable that Chinese eg. Mandarin.
I do not care for the buffet at Brar.
I just think too much of soda bi-carb in the food fills you up quickly and then you are left with a puffed belly.
