Hi,
I am a Canada PR card Holder My wife is an American Green card holder .
My Question:
1. Should I file for her Canadian PR card and at the same time apply for my
American Green card and let her proceed toward her US citizenship and I proceed towards my canadian citizenship.
2. Do we get any kind of tax benefit when we file our annual tax return as Married with our current status or do we need to update our status
Please Advise

Ans: Why complicate the process by filing two PRs in different countries? Your sponsorship application (by your wife) for the US PR will take forever, since at present she is a green card holder. You might want to sponsor her for the cdn PR if you want to live in Canada (in that case she will have to put her US green card in danger). Otherwise if she is eligible/close to become eligible for the US citizenship, then it will be good for her to sponsor you for the US green card after she becomes a USC.

Ans: CRA will ask for her SIN no. on your tax return (I assume she does not have one now). Therefore, you (most probably) will not be able to claim her credit on your tax return. Even if you do, you will have to declare her income too (means paying tax on it) on the return.
For your wife, as far as her U.S. taxes are concerned, has to have your US SSN or tax ID no. Again, even if you get it, she will have to pay taxes on your income if she decides to file her US return as "married filing jointly" status.
