A person is considered to be a permanent resident of a country if that person resides in that country for 183 days in a year. To maintain your US GC, you have to stay atleast 183 days in a year or else you will have to provide valid reasons for your absence. To maintain your Canadian PR, you have to stay atleast 2yrs out of 5yrs. If you are going to stay in US for first 3yrs and come back to Canada on Canadian PR, you are considered a returning resident but not a permanent resident for last 3yrs. In anycase, decide where u want to live and go there. Thanks!
