I knew of Parents in one family who got their Green Card status, by skipping six months, from 1st January to end of June, or close to it, then staying in the US for six months of one year (183 days) and stay through the next year for the first six months from January of the next till the end of June.(183 days) thereby straddling the two years, six months at a time. That way they saved on travels and also had a continuous year there in the USA. They also complied with the requirements of 183 days in each year. That was good work.

Now they are Citizens of USA. It takes time and planning.
