Air Canada is ending all flights to India and is diverting the flights to China as the service is not making money in Summer.
The New Delhi direct service is stopped from 1st May 2007.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
it is sad.The service is not stopped only for summer but for ever.
I am happy to know that!
It is better than what happened last year, not once but twice to my wife and niece.
At the last moment, AC decided to change the bigger aircraft to a smaller aircraft for their flight to Delhi because they wanted to use the bigger airplane for China. So they took all the passangers, but left luggage for about 50 of them since they had accepted commercial cargo as per capacity of the bigger aircraft.
At Delhi, when passangers waited for more than an hour and the bags did not arrive, they were told that not by mistake, but on purpose, the bags were left in toronto and would arrive in batches in about 5-7 days. When some passangers said that they were in India for a week or so only, AC took down their names and said inthe end - it was no use getting their bags and so they could collect it when the return to Toronto!!!!!
My wife was in Delhi for 3 weeks so she got her bags after 5 days, but my niece who had visited India after 7 years (and she is about 16 years old) was travelling within India, collected her bags from my wife on her way to the airport for return flight!!!
As if that was not enough, on arrival at the Toronto airport, the bags were missing again, so were AC staff. My wife realised that and called a customs officer who immediately said that they knew 157 bags were left behind on purpose because of the back log for last three weeks.
No compensations were given for baggage delay in Delhi - though they asked us to send all the original bills of purchased made in emergency saying that as per rules they were not obliged to pay. For return journey, no claims were paid as according to them this was home they were returning to.
To top it all, after three days, the bags arrived and during the afternoon they were left by courier service on our driveway!
SO WOULD YOU HAVE THIS OR HAVE NO FLIGHTS FROM AC TO INDIA???

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
Too bad! Never had a bad experience with AC to Del. But I guess I'm the minority
I hope some other airlines starts NS to Del soon. (unlikely)
