Though our great country is on the path of economic glory...yet it is sad that "Old School"beaurocrats ar still in-charge of major decisions.
China is definetly a power house and we need more connections to them.
But someone should remind the "Idiots in Power" that the buying power is still in the west.
Also as the country's need rises for raw materials (read nickel, zinc, etc) Canada would become an ideal choice.
Also India has an uperhand over China in Canada because of the large diaspora of NRI's here.
Not that we really need Air India here. There service is not great, flights suck and CRM is something they have not heard of ( The same is true for other Indian govt establishments here...like SBI...this story some other time
National airlines are supposed to be a representative of a country in foriegn land.
And someone please tell me... is Air India profitable???Which routes???

Gentlemen,
why is it politically incorect to say \"Indian Shortsightedness\" when you are an NRI and not when you are in the country.
Or is Air India not a representative (National Airline) of India anymore. Like the embassy represents the country.
Heres an example :
The most profitable route in the Middle East flying to the sub-continent is the route between Dubai to India (Delhi/Mumbai/Chennai/Bengalaru/Kolkatta...man thats a lot of politicaly correct names to remember .
Air India used to fly to Dubai/Sharjah even before Emirates existed. But then cut down on the quantity and quality of flights saying \"The route was not profitable\" .
But then Emirates capitalized on theese routes and even today acknowledges the fact that it is the mst profitable route with near 100% load (comparison : DXB To Karachi = 500 Dhs.....DXB to Mumbai = 1100 Dhs...same distance)
I know a person who at one time was one of the big two of Air India. Now heads a private airline and is pushing for the same route saying its a profitable route.
Wheeeew...enough rambling. Time to get bashed again
BTW Air Canada is as bad if not worse.Oooops.... was that politicaly incorrect also.
(All the above views are mine and mine only at a time when I am totaly bored)
ooops....one too many.
apologies to all.
could someone take my stupid ramblings off.
sorry guys.
