Mumbai Maazi Ladki ...
What I miss about India
1.The amazing colors, food, sights and sounds. People in India dress in eye catching colors be it men or women or the colorful garlands worn by bakra/bakris in Kurla before Bakri Id. Indian food is just awesome be it bhel puri, faloodas, masala dosa’s or vada pav.
2.the ready smile that you see on a strangers face when you approach them for help.
3.traveling in Indian trains and jostling to get inside one during the rush hour in Mumbai or getting inside a running bus
4. Sucking on golas ( gola is crushed ice on a stick and dosed with artificial sweetners)
5.drinking cutting chai (laced with cardamoms) with friends and having a smoke
6.drinking tender coconut water on hot summer days
7.dancing on your friends baraat or for any reason ( be it a procession or celebrating victory in cricket match)
8.the festive spirit in Mumbai during diwali and during Christmas in Mangalore
9.stealing a kiss with girl friend on rainy evenings and hoping that the cops or none of her relatives have seen you doing it
10.feeding the pigeons with channa at kabutharkhana
11.reading your neighbors mid-day newspaper in train or just hanging out of a moving train
12.waiting for new releases of movies on Friday evenings and whistling during the start of the movie
13.celebrating Id, Diwali with muslim and hindu friends and enjoying the spirit of togetherness
14.helping neighbors in times of need and receiving help when needed
15.miss the predictions of boogu bull ( bull which predicts your future), the tarot reading parrots
16.Speaking the Mumbai lingo with aapun, tupun and kya bolta hai rey.
In short being a complete tapori and yet being not frowned upon by society.
