I back shankaracharya decision. Wait ofr 3.5 years is worth compare to pressure of H1 visa.
In today's circumstances, it is nothing less than 4.5 years - that is if you have not gone out of the country atall in the first three years. Just keep that in mind.

Prabhudev shankaracharyaji,
Mere man mein kuch 'Shankayen aur Sawaal'aa rahe hain jinka niwaaran sirf aap hi kar sakte hain. Kripya meri sahayta karen:
Aapne kaha:
It is exactly 1.5 years since I migrated to Canada...............I still remember when I wrote my first e-mail to this website about 2 1/2 years ago from Chennai, so many people wrote to me that \"Arre Doctor Saab, Idhar Mazdoori Kaam karne key liye math avo !\"
Mera sawaal:
You came to Canada exactly after one year after you posted your first ''é-mail'' to this website. So how useful or useless was this website for you that even after getting all the information on this website, still you could not manage to get a job which paid you more than $8 an hour?
Aapne kaha:
I started at $8 an hour and I'm today at $ 12 per hour
Mera sawaal:
After how many months on the same job, did you get a raise of 50% in your 'pagaar'?
Aapne kaha:
I had my car accident in December '04 and obtained full claim eventhough I had one way insurance.
Mera sawaal:
Did the insurance company say that it was your Át Fault'accident (1 to 100%) or it was 100% Not at fault?
Aapne kaha:
I was twice CHEATED by my fellow Desis, while I rented their basements
Meri shanka:
Kaise? Thoda prakash daalen, please.
Aapne kaha:
Today I have saved around $15,000 in my children RESP, while I have saved around $3000 on my RRSP
Mera sawaal:
You are here in Canada just for 18 months. How come you have $15,000 in your children's RESP already? I am not an expert on RESP thing, so may be some RESP expert can also help me here in understanding the 'funda''.
Aapne kaha:
I have an old 1993 car and I drive around the city and pay $125, on one way insurance.
Mera sawaal:
Could you please tell us that which company you are insured with? Because getting a better and cheaper car insurance is a major issue esp for new comers and you are a new comer (just 18 months in Canada). So it will be very helpful for everybody including me.
Aapne kaha:
we will find lots of Srilankan Tamils, who have fled their country due to war, landed here on fake passports, applied for refugee status and started their life from scratch. They do all the back breaking labour jobs and most of them have two jobs(working for 16 hours per day) and you'll find them very happy, complaining the least and owning half to million dollar homes.
Meri shanka:
I have been here in Canada for five years but I have never come across a Srilankan Tamil who is on a 'Refugee status', doing labour job and owning a million dollar home. Could you please refer me to such one person at least because I want to ask him about his mortgage arrangements and the mortgage broker.
Aapne kaha:
having my own personal secreatary
Mera comment:
I think personal 'secretary' is always your own (just on a lighter side)
Aapne kaha:
My salary was Rs.15 + Lakhs
Mera sawaal:
Rs. 15 plus kitne lakh I mean Rs. 15 plus ek lakh or do lakh ....again kidding
Aapne kaha:
paid company vacations
Mera sawaal:
How much did you pay to company for vacation
....bura naa mano, zara mood change kar lo...
Aapne kaha:
I finished my PhD from a top notch school in USA, with a nobel prize winner had the pick of the jobs in USA, left everything and headed back home about 12 years ago......................here I'm a PhD, MBA
Mera sawaal:
Which school did you do your MBA from? Yeh kahani zara samajh nahin aayi ki after PhD and MBA, you are doing labour job in a factory and not even a call Centre job which IMHO, would give you more in terms of money, job satisfaction and less backpain.
Aapne kaha:
A courier driver with his own car can earn around $150 on a 8 hour shift after all expenses in Canada or you want to slog in a entry level SW job at $12 per hour ?
Mera sawaal:
How come you slogged in the entry level job @ $8 an hour if you are advising a SW professional not to slog at even $12 an hour?
Aapne kaha:
My game plan was always, \" the first 6 months to survive, the next year to get into my field, next six months to stabilize myself(network) and then grow from there\
Mera sawaal:
According to your "gameplan(sounds like Ajit in some 80's classic), you should be in your own field, stabilized and growing. Are you working in your own field? What kind of field is it which is paying you just $12 an hour even after PhD and MBA?
Aapne kaha:
Yes, I hear you saying everybody is not as lucky as you
Mera comment:
You bet
Aapne kaha:
Do you know waiters in decent restaurants, make around $150 per day on week ends as tips(CASH on Hand)! that is around $225 before taxes.
Mera sawaal:
Have you ever thought of quitting your present job and take up waiter job? Just curious to know.
Hope you don't mind me asking you tons of questions. If you don't feel like answering them, please ignore all of them and do not reply.
All the best!!!

As anticipated the first response from a Real Estate Agent did arrive!

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

Advice is free – lessons I charge for!!
Shankaracharya ji, there are so many gaping holes in your story that now I have serious doubts about your qualifications and experience. You just want to take us for a collective ride. Aap to hum sub ko topi pahna rahai hain.
Aap kaise teer andaz hain?
Pahle seedha to kar lo teer ko.
Zhoot bolne ke liye bhi smartness chahiye.
