Hello CD's,
I intend to come to Calgary circa July 5th and am looking for a accomodation there now (Makan first.. roti & kapada we can arrange). Please can someone guide me on a paying guest or other types of accomodation for a couple (that's me & my wife).
I am new to the place although I had visited Toronto in September last year. Any form of advice and help will be sincerely appreciated.
Thanking you all in advance.
This website provides a lot of information to the new arrivals and to those who are desirous of immigrating to specific area, such as you. Some of it is already posted and available to you and the seekers. (One who is looking for such information) It will be nice if you can ask some one to help you from the location where you are now, to extract such information from this website through the 'search' engine provided here in. I know it is a learning process and with a little patience and with a little help you will master the system, in due course. When you do that, you will not only find the search fruitful and satisfying, you will be in a better position to help others. So, don't be scared to do your own research and suceed.
Here is the link for the accomodation that I posted a few days back to another aspiring immigrant. Since he is already there or going to land before you do, please keep him as your link and ask him to feed you more information about that place after he lands. Fortunately the link to this site is automatically up-dating and you will find the newer postings from the owners' updating often. So, when you are coming, in the month of June, it would be giving you the availability of places and the costs that prevail then.

Good Luck in Canada.

Freddie, I saw your earlier reply to a similar posting (which I posted) and thanks for the reply. I went thru the Calgarycraiglist.com website, but it seems like most of them are looking for students rather than a couple & family. Are there any similar dwelling places in Calary for newcomers like whats there in Toronto like Sunnynewcomer & torontorooms4u? Such places would be the right ones that I am looking for.
I will try and locate a few more suitable classifieds and also through personal contacts. I have not gone through any of the ads. Because it is time consuming. Also I do not know what the owners want for a particular location and your immediate requirements. If they match then we have a happy customer.
Here are a few more avenues that you can follow and I will explore later on, during the week, and see where we go from there. If there is a positive response, then, I will post the same. Otherwise you please go on with your own search, till your arrival time. I sincerely hope you do find a suitable location before then. Also, in june of the year, when all of the Educational Institutions, get their break, the market gets opened up, and a lot of places will be up for grabs and you might find one at that time, since your arrival coincides with that time.

These three are active, temple devotees, who run the volunteer services, at the temple for the 'preethi bhoj' once a month and might know or can recommend to you a location suitable to your requirements. Please inform them that you got a reference to their services from this Canadian Desi board. I will do my own inquiry after posting this to you and the board, and further on,
post to the board any newsworthy item, after calling them over the phone. The area code (403-xxx-xxxx) was added to these numbers by me, Hope they link up from overseas.
please contact Mr. Abhimanyu Singh @ 403- 242-4982,
Suman/Subhash Katyal @ 403- 281-7757, or
Mayura Rangayyan @ 403-239-7380
I know how important it is for you to find a suitable place when you land in a new country, then a job to get you going, and then settle down soon after that. Perseverence will pay off.
Freddie.
Thanks for the links Freddie.
I have not yet contacted the persons but there seems to be lot of leads in the 'kijiji' website. That should be a very useful one.
