I was at a course (all federal govt staff) where it happened. We were 5 at the table and this gora, in his late 40s, started his MLM pitch (despite that he works for the federal govt). I think the sales pitch has been tweaked. They don’t say it is MLM. He was saying network marketing, later in the end (after my bashing) admitted it was MLM.
When he came to the table and wrote his name on the name tag, he drew a happy face picture next to his name. Then and there I figured out something was not right with this dude. There were three other ladies with us in the table. Also I observed that he had sort of ASD (attention seeking disorder). He tried to grab as much attention as possible, by asking unwanted qns, saying yes or aha to some of the statements of the instructor. The three ladies were looking at each other and at me. I let it go since I did not want to jump at him without giving him the benefit of doubt.
At the first break on the first day itself he started saying that he would be a millionaire next year, he has a business, how govt staff would leave their job if they see this business opportunity, etc. Continued that crap during lunch break, coffee break, etc. First day I let it go. By second day lunch time, I had enough of him. Point blank asked him (with the ladies present) who was paying for the course, govt or himself (govt pays). Also if he was leaving the govt job within the next year. If his manager and his/her manager knew about what he was doing here. Asked his last name and told him that I would communicate the entire episode to his manager. With the ladies cheering on, gave a piece of mind. Took abt 2 minutes, I guess. He was so stunned at the backlash, I think he lost his interest in the course and left just after lunch. Don’t know if he was interested in the course at all, might have come to do the MLM pitch.
Anyways, that was a bizarre experience.
DIO,
Thanks for taking time to type such a long incident.
I have seen many ASD (mentals- as i call them) in my career.
Some seek the attention of ladies, whereas others imagine things which can never ever happen in their lifes. Maybe this Gora is a drug addict. Many Desi's who exhibit this kind of behaviour may have had some abuse in their youth or love failure.
The best advise is to keep well off them.
