Never had anyone stamp on my passport when I have travelled between US and Canada on H1. Only stamp I have is by Canadians when I first landed - nothing since.
US will stamp on passport when coming in diorectly from another country (other than Canada), not sure if Canada stamps when entering from 3rd country.

If you don't need new I-94 at border (by road) than I think they will not stamp. but having I-94 flying from Toronto to US get stamp on passport.

No, this is also not the case. They normally do not stamp while travelling between US/CANADA by any means - road or air.
I am surprised to know they did stamped for cdn_dude.
cdn_dude, can you clearly mention when did they stamped your passport? While travelling between US/CANADA or US/Any other country?
For later, yes they will!
Parth
1) Do you work from your home in Toronto or company's office in Toronto ?
2) What address is being shown on your payslip ( US or Canadian)
3) Again what address is shown on W2 forms etc (US or Canadian).
4) When you said you paid $ 600 tax to Ontario was that deducted from your US pay check or you had to pay seperately.
5) Have US or Canada immigration ppl ever asked you where you work and how long have you been in Canada ? What do you reply.
6) What do your collegues in US office think of this ? Do you have other issues as a telecommuter ?
on boarder by road (from canada to USA) when you will issue I-94 that time they will (US-INS) stamp your passport and every other time when you go through your old I-94 they just Scan your VISA(Barcode) in their computer ....so entry will in their computer......
And when you come beck to canada , canadaian authority ask for PR card and they are also scanning that in their computer at POrt of entry,
so there is no stamp in your passport but there is record in their computer.
Even at the border the US/CANADA both are sharing their data to each other.....Bcos when I first enter in USA they check my PR card online from CANADA databse....it will take around 5-10 min ..........
so this courty are smart enough that all data will be with thme in their computer but no proof with us.
example is entry in US is prove by i-94 and they will check but when you are out of USA then you have to prove that you are out of USA by submitting the i-94 back otherwise they keep record are you are in USA.
same in canada when i came from india they just check my PR by eye only no entry nothing on Immigration counter on toronto airport , But they are smart so they are taking the written Embarcation card with our sign (this include date for leaveing and entering in canada) so this is with thme but no proof with us.
This is genreal practice in canada/US that they will tape our Phone for proof for their compnay but we will nerver get any written copy or proof from them.
we have to just TRUST them.
