Couple fined $120,000 for immigration fraud following government crackdown

PRs living outside of Canada beware - Cheating the system no longer works

An investigation found that, in the five years since the couple had become Canadian permanent residents, they had only spent about a month in Canada. Each was charged with two counts of “making misrepresentations to maintain permanent resident status.”

Still I have question ..... Why canadian govt. dont stamp or enter exit entry in their system . I surprize how govt. calculate no of days we stay in canada ? Waht is the reason to not to stamp or keep exit record of person ?

Why do they need to stamp? All passenger records are maintained electronically these days

And as far land crossings, information the U.S. Customs and Border Protection already shares the entry information with Canada Border Services agency

If they resort to stamping then frequent business travelers will probably need a 100 or 200 page passport

Stamping passport is normal practice every where . Also canadian authority should enter details of passanger who depart from canada . What is harm in stamping and entering traveller's data after all they will find out about the person - how many days he stayed in canada .
I saw between UAE and Oman they stamp each individual on entry and exit even a truck driver who daily cross border .
Even in India when we depart we have to fill up one form to the immigration with that form immigration officer stamp passport and enter our data in their system .
There is no logic behind to not to keep record of who is leaving canada border ?
