Are any CD's living in Canada and woking for US based projects/job ? This could either be working from home or from the US company's office in Canada. My questions include
1) Do you still keep your H1 visa to occasionally travel to US.
2) Is your salry paid in US $ and are Ontario taxes deducted if your perm address is based out of ON ?
3) Any issues that you have encountered while doing this ?
Thanks
1) Do you still keep your H1 visa to occasionally travel to US.
---Yes, I am almost doing this, going to US after two –three month for one week
2) Is your salry paid in US $ and are Ontario taxes deducted if your perm address
is based out of ON ?
----You have to pay tax at ON, for 2006 I am going to pay @ 600-700 CAN $, but than I might get Child tax benefit so it would be equal.
3) Any issues that you have encountered while doing this ?
---Till today not, but keep in touch, May some CD can highlight more!

In such a scenario , does the PR status remain unaffected ?
Days spent in the US ~ are they considered as residence in Canada / US ?

Technically days spent in the US unless you are working for a Canadian company do not count as days towards maintaining your PR status.
Apparently the person below is working for a US company, so I don't believe those days would count as days in Canada.
Thanks YellowKnife ,
I had heard that since there s no entry on the passport or at Cdn Authorities when you visit US , as long as you are getting your power / rent bills , you can pull this w/o gettting detected . Is that possible ?

Thanks Cdn_Dude . I was wondering how many takers would be there to issue an H1 and allow continuing work from Canada ....... Very few I presume .My 1st priority is to maintain PR but i dont mind working for a US Employer in Canada .
