Greetings everyone,

I am new to this site as well as to this country.

I have done MBA financial services from India but don't possess any work experience. Now I landed here and would like to start my career in Financials.

What are the various career paths? How easy or difficult it is to enter into this field? what will be the salary for the new comer?

Currently, I am doing CSC from CSI and expected to finish it by end of April.

Appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

Thanks
Puja

aah yes, MBA, one of my fave acronyms!

Ok, Is it that you have no work experience in Canada or even in India?

At any rate with or without CSC, most people I know coming from India in the financial services field, looking for a job, tend to start off as a processor or customer service rep at a bank or mutual fund co and work their way up.

Citigroup, ever expanding, is always looking for people. You might want to try there.
There are several mutual fund cos. like AGF, Dynamic, Acuity, Brandes, Templeton, Fidelity who are always on the look-out. Also several banks.
Placement cos to try are Today's Staffing, Accountemps, Randstad, Apple One, Kelly services.
Also there is a jobboom fair on downtown at The Toronto Metro Convention centre. Maybe you can zip down there tomorrow (last day of the job fair I believe) with several copies of your resume and visit the booths there, though the better bet is to go to their offices.

From what I hear it is extremely easy to get in at entry level and heck as to how high you can soar...? Perhaps Sarabjit Marwah of Scotiabank can help you out there.
If you are the entrepreneurial type, Bhim Asdhir of Excel Funds can tell you how high you can soar.
If you want to be a fund manager then ask Rohit Sehgal- he can give you pointers (of Dynamic Funds)

Salary for unilingual as processor/csr I believe is $15-17 per hour. Maybe with a CSC you can command more.

CSC from CSI is an excellent start Puja. You might also want to look into completing LLQP (An insurance exam). Email me or call me if you need any assistance. Good Luck!

Hi All,

Many thanks to all for your suggestions.
I am feeling more confident and encouraged with your comments.

Can someone tell me the exact approach for job hunting after writing CSC exam. Should I approach the companies/banks directly or should apply through job sites?

Regards
Puja
