Hello Everybody,
I'm planning to buy a house (TH/SEMI) in Markham area. I am not familiar with this area much, so if anybody who is aware with this area, I would like to know about following:
1) Which area I should avoid?
2) Any idea about traffic in rush hour on MaCowan Rd (from 16th Ave to Sheppard)
3) Where can I find some GUJJU/Indian community?
I appreciate your time and your ideas/suggestions will be definitely helping me.
Thanks,
Regards,
Jaymin
Hi Jaymin, I have been living in Markham for last 15 yrs. and know a number of Gujarati families. Call me or Email me, should you wish. Good Luck!
Hi Jaymin,
The Markham area generally is very good overall. I currently live at Kennedy/Steeles across from Pacific Mall. There are a few more areas that are denser in terms of population (due to basement rentals) but overall Markham is a very nice city.
In terms of traffic traveling from 16th Ave to Sheppard on McCowan, it does get quite busy as you approach Sheppard (especially during rush hour times).
There are a lot of Gujarati and Indians in the east end of Markham in between Steeles and 14th Avenue.
Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Thanks Nareshji and Vimal,
I am looking on McCown Rd because of transit, I have got mixed feedback about Steels and 14th Avenue between McCown Rd and M'kham Rd. and that makes me confuse.
I don't understand one thing -The price of TH/SD (2-3 yrs old) at McCown and 16th Ave is almost same as in M'kham Rd and Steels/Denison/14th Ave for detached or SD house (under 5 yrs)-Why is that? I will appreciate your feedback.
Thanks,
Jaymin
Hi Jaymin,
The semis that are on Markham Rd. in between Steeles and 14th are smaller than the average size for a semi and that is why some of the townhouses up near McCowan and 16th are the same price as these homes even though they are newer.
It all depends on the individual home as well. Each one is different, with different finishes and upgrades. There are some semis that could start from $300,000 all the way up to $400,000 in the Markham area.
If you need more detailed information about these areas feel free to call me anytime.
Regards,
