Hi CDs

I see people discussing about Toronto, Vancouver and Edmonton all the time. But not much discussion has taken place about cities like Winnipeg.

I am new to Canada and am considering whether to continue staying in Vancouver or move to places offering better opportunities.

Would appreciate some information. Thanks

What profession are you in?

What makes you believe that Winnipeg offers better options for you (note that I am not saying whether it does or not)

What kind of social network do you already have in Winnipeg?

What research have you done so far?

I guess if you want your get immediate family members to migrate to Canada Winnipeg is best option. You will get a job there, but I guess it quite lonely place and the nearest city from Winnipeg is miles away

No it is not lonely. The city is very vibrant, but it depends on the person's preferences for entertainment/socializing. They have wonderful festivals. It is a great place to raise a family with excellent museums, zoos etc.

It has good shopping, beautiful parks and good universities.

Its not huge but has a good sized Indian population and temples etc.

It is far ..in terms of driving distances to other places.. but there is a lot to do within the city !! You are 8 hours from MInneapolis. I think 8 hours from Regina. Only 15 hours to southern ontario. 2 hours to Kenora Ontario, a place known for its lakes.

it has cold winters... but lots of outdoor activities for summer and winter.

Great post !
A lot of times people have pre-conceived ideas about certain places, without any real fact-based research.
