Garibi Hatao was the slogan in 1970's election, for 1980 she had the opposition to thank....... they (opposition) screwed things so much that she won without actuallly doing anything.

Yes that is true ..... but all of them have to go through the rigours of being elected by their party. They are not placed on top just because they are related to someone on power.
Hillary was not handed the baton by Bill Clinton, infact the democrates lost the elections after him .Now the democrates are "electing"their new candidate for president and she happens to be one of the runners. That is a big difference from what happens in our part of the world.
Look what happened in Pakistan .... a bhutto "took over"the leadership of the party. Since he is not eligible for fighting elections, so they have sent him back on study leave.
Having said that i would like to add that it is a different way of life in our part of the world and so is the politics.

Don't know how the watergate scandal fits in here- that was good ol' Tricky Dick of the GOP.

whitewater/whitewatergate scandal.

All said and done its often one gesture and/or misstep that ultimately decides the 'president by media' race (by turning the tide). This includes freeform media like the internet. Sympathies and empathies can turn in an instant. e,g: many could empathise with Hillary's unplanned(?) choking up. At the same time, if it happens again, people may not want to see a 'weak' president.

NH goes to Hillary and McCain

It will be interesting to to see Obama vs. McCain on Nov 4th.

I meant the Whitewater scandal, I believe.
It's back from the days when Billy was in Arkansas, before he was President.
Hillary's law firm was tainted in that.

If Hillary continues her winning streak, rest assured, that issue and all blemishes against her (including whether or not she smoked pot when in college) will be dragged into discussion by the media.

.

Hillary has taken all the poll pundits by surprise, so they are looking at the reason for her turnaround and that choking incident is being brought into play.
But i think the way Edwards "ganged" up with Obama during the debate, it gave Hillary some votes.
He wanted to "finish off" Hillary so that he could have a one on one with Obama. But i guess the whole thing misfired on him badly. But i guess he will end up being what he is a "vice- presidentail"candidate for Obama.

Gotcha.

Smoking pot- I wonder who is free of that in the US.Very few esp from the baby boomers.I bet the person who writes on that will have smoked grass and the folks on the net are probably lit up while posting their views.

Obama has fessed to snorting coke, I believe, and boozing up.

Wonder if he's shot smack, done crack, ecstasy, LSD, peyote , talked to Mescalito, and all them new 'wonderful' designer drugs.
Maybe they have something in Indonesia, where he studied, that is even more potent.
