Could someone educate and enlighten me what is going on in our neighbor country?

I understand Mr. Bush is shortly leaving the White House because he was elected twice and served eight years as a President of United States of America.

How many parties are in the states and what are the pre election campaigns? Obama and Hillary are Senators of which party and are they competing in their own party? to be Presidential Candidate? And now McCain endorsed by Mr. Bush? He is from a different party ? And no pre-election for him?

Let me understand the American Parties and their Presidential Election from fellow Desi members.
