BJP trounces Cong in Guj civic polls
Makes dent in party's (Cong's) Muslim, Christian and Dalit vote banks
By Times News Network
Gandhinagar
"Call it the last nail in the Congress coffin in Gujarat.Chief Minister Narendra Modi -led BJP swept the local body polls, crushing the Congress completely in Panchayats and Municipalities, after havingalready won the six municipal corporations.
The win clearly underlines the complete domination of the Gujarat CM on the political arena in Gujarat, where the Congress has been decimated systematically during the 9 years of his rule. The BJP has made in Congress traditional vote banks, tribals, OBCS, Dalits, and even Muslims. Adding insult to the injury after the capture of six cities earlier this month, BJP steam rolled into Congress pockets where the stalwarts like Ahmed Patel, Bharatsinh Solanki, Dinshah Patel and Tushar Chaudhury held sway. All these leaders seem clueless as the party's fortune go into a tailspin. Out of 24 districy panchayats, the Congress managed to win just 2, Gandhinagar and Tapi. BJP won 47 out of 53 municipalities and the most of the 208 taluka panchayats. If the defeat in Anand is a jolt to Solanki and Dinshah, the eclipse of Bharuch where the tribals form a formidable force suggest a setback to the Congress President Sonia Gandhi's political advisor, Ahmed Patel. In a major development, the BJP has managed to get elected several muslim candidates that it had fielded in the Bharuch municipality. The loss in Valsat and Surat is a disturbing sign for Chaudhury.
The BJP not only won the Ankleshwar municipality after 15 years, but made history by drawing muslim votes. In 2 muslim dominated wards, BJP's muslim candidates won. And in another muslim dominated ward, the BJP's candidate won, which indicates that muslims voted for the BJP. Four of BJP's 13 muslim candidates in Bharuch, Jambusar and Anleshwar municipalities in Bharuch district won the elections. Fielding christian candidate in Dangs, it seems also paid dividends to BJP.
GPCC Chief resigns: GPCC President Mr. Siddharth Patel resigned from the post on saturday, following the humiliating defeat in the local body polls."
Note
1. Why should this party which purely runs on the diktats of the Sonia family from Delhi, run for village panchayats, which means empowering people at the lowest rungs of the society.
2. If only BJP had been defeated, TOI would have run headlines on the front page, unlike 10% space on page 9 as did now. and the Barqa Dutt Brigade would be screaming on TV channels for the dismissal of the Modi Govt.

Jai Ho Narendra Modi Bhai!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish he could stand & win the PM post in an absolute BJP / NDA majority parliament. That would be the day.
Simply Awesome.
*BOOS* to TOI, Burkha / NDTV & Congress.

Over 100 Muslim BJP candidates won in the just concluded polls, an indicator of a marked change in the way the community sees Modi. Recently, the BJP won the Kathlal Assembly seat for the first time in 58 years. Interestingly 65 per cent of Kathlal's voters are Muslims. The BJP had fielded a record number of Muslim candidates in the municipal corporation elections too.

The people of Gujarat have spoken loud and clear, just like they have in the past. Modi's not perfect by any standards and, but even his critics applaud the astonishing contribution he has made to Gujarat's progress. His commitment is relentless and every Gujarati I've spoken to in the last 4/5 yrs. has confirmed this.
There's hope so long as action-oriented governance trumps propaganda and politics of division. I'm glad Gujarat continues to choose the former over the latter. Hope the rest of India will follow, regardless of which party they vote for.
