Hi,

Looking for some tips to potty train my 2.5 yrs old daughter. I have been trying for quite some time, but no success yet. Any suggestions?

Doctors here says that "they gonna be ready when they gonna be ready. You don't need to try anything."

My daughter was Potty trained at about 2.5. She had a Leader to follow. Her friend was 4 yrs.

We did not do special ... We were renting, and "No Carpet" helped us. If you dont have carpet, try leaving her without diapers. Little work for you, but girls dont like mess so it will speed things up.

I am afraid I may have to disagree with doctors if they say "they gonna be ready when they gonna be ready. You don't need to try anything."
If the kid has a leader to follow they will learn faster no doubt but if your kid is the only one then you have to put in some efforts.
Having said that, I would share my own experience as I am also potty training my son. I have a 3 year old son and I never tried to potty train him until now and he also never got ready!
Now i just use diaper only at bedtime or when we are going out. Here are few tips that might help:
1. Note the time when the kid usually has bowl movement and take her to potty seat around that time and let her sit on it for some time ( even with diaper if she has already pooed).
2. get a potty seat for her or buy a seat that would fit your toilet seat.( i use this)
3. after she has had bowl movements let her flush and say bye to the poop .That will make this process enjoyable for her rather than a punishment !
4. In case she poos outside in room , show her the right place and make her sit on the seat for few minutes .This way she will know that to poo she has to go to seat.
5. Ask her if she wants to poo or pee and take her to washroom often.
6. May sound nasty but let her watch and understand that everyone uses washroom for pooing.
I am following these and my son is now getting regular day by day . Its a lot of effort and sometimes mess but we have to do it some day then why not now!
All the best.

Im sure your landlord appreciated that !

Maybe its a cultural thing? ie/ potty training method. However it sounds unsanitary...

When shes ready she will be. I have not heard of many adults going around in diapers (medical issues and other special cases are exceptions)

In the lib you will find childrens picture books on potty training. If you are in the habit of reading to her do so or at least show her the pics. May help her identify. In anycase do not make her feel like a failure. Dont obsess about it either cause kids can sense it.

Kids won't be ready on their own! Trust me I waited 3 years.
Adults don't go around in diapers coz their moms potty trained them!
Its not about getting obsessed or pushing your child to do something..instead try to make the training interesting and fun( be it potty training or any other thing).
Picture books is definitely a good idea.

OK You are right.
My older kid is 10 yrs now( trained herself with gentle directions from us, books etc in less than yr and half, second one took longer maybe 2-3 yrs) but what do I know? When you are right you are right :D

Nevertheless, here's a nice article which may help
