"You will be exempt from the DATV requirement and may be able to transit without visa if you hold one of the following.

* A valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel through the UK as part of a journey from another country or territory to the country for which you have the entry visa.
* A valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel through the UK as part of a journey from the country for which you have the visa to another country or territory.
* A valid airline ticket for travel through the UK as part of a journey from Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America to another country or territory, as long as you do not transit (pass through) the UK on a date more than six months after the date on which you last entered Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America with a valid visa for that country.
* A valid USA I-551 permanent resident card issued on or after 21 April 1998.
* A valid Canadian permanent resident card issued on or after 28 June 2002."

This is according to http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf20transit#Q5

You can use GO transit to travel from the airport to Whitby:
http://www.gotransit.com/public/en/travelling/airport.aspx

Basically first you will be travelling from the airport to Richmond Hill Centre:

\" Daily service has been adjusted and will continue to operate between the airport and the Richmond Hill Centre.

* Eastbound trips will depart the airport hourly between 4:45 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. to the Richmond Hill Centre. \"

From Richmond Hill Centre you will travel to Union Station and change there to travel towards Oshawa. Whitby is the second last station on that line.

Here is the GO transit system map:
http://www.gotransit.com/publicroot/en/schedules/sysmap.aspx

You will be travelling first on the F and then on the B train line.

I do not live in Toronto, other CDs please verify.

Here is a Map of Toronto. : http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1pn=Lester+B+Pearson+Int%27l+Airport+%28YYZ%29&1c=Toronto&1s=ON&1z=L5P&1y=CA&1l=43.68498&1g=-79.61422&1v=ADDRESS&1id=16208173&2c=Whitby&2s=ON&2y=CA&2l=43.899261&2g=-78.942543&2v=CITY

The Map you provided is good.(kimat) Here it is in the link format. :
http://www.gotransit.com/publicroot/en/schedules/sysmap.aspx

Out side of the airport about two miles from the airport On the airport Road and Derry corner, there is a GO station. It is called the MALTON station. From there when you board, take the line to Union Station. Ask which platform to go to, that will take you to UNION STATION.

No trains on the line after 22:00 on this line. So, if you are arriving OUT SIDE of the Customs check after 21:00 hours our local time, then it becomes difficult to get a GO service to Whitby.
Here is the time schedule at the Malton to Union station. (Malton is the Airport Location. Union Station is the center of Toronto city.)
http://www.gotransit.com/publicroot/en/PDF/Quicktables/UNION/CurrentBoard/MTGO.pdf
At this location (Malton) you get the 'GO BUS' and also the 'GO Train' services too. they are marked so on the time table.*

Union Station is the starting point from which all the trains move in different direction.

Transfer to the B line from UNION Station to WHITBY. Ask once again which platform to board the OSHAWA train.

Alternately take a limousine and it will cost you $95.00 or so plus the tip $15. : http://www.torontoairportlimo.com/whitby-limousine-services.html

Freddie.

You can also use Google Maps to plan your trip. For example this search gives you four alternatives. Since we do not know the approximate time of your flight landing at Toronto, you can change the time and run a new search according to your arrival time.:
