Dear dollarplus,

When you apply, you must provide proof of your Canadian immigration status. If permanent resident, are you a landed ?(landed immigrant) and proof there of.
If you are a temporary resident, your authorization or permit (work permit, study permit, visitor record, Temporary Resident Permit or extension to Temporary Resident Permit) must cover the period after your 18 months of residency. If your permit states, "does not confer status" or "does not confer temporary resident status," you are not eligible.

Are you a returning resident of Canada who returned within the last 2 years.?

They are always there to help you. But they are bogged down: +18003871193
So, be patient.

Here is their website: http://www.settlement.org/sys/link_redirect.asp?doc_id=1001353

http://www.settlement.org/sys/link_redirect.asp?doc_id=1001353

It is a long and drawn out form and guide to read. So, take your time and read and then contact them and get the clear cut answers that you are looking for. You will get the benefits from them.

Hope this helps,

Freddie.

Thanks a lot for quick reply....ftfl

as per the cctb enquiry office, for a landed immigrant who landed first and did not apply for cctb, and when he returned again he/she will not be considered as returning resident and considered as new resident(part C of the cctb application form)

thnx

Dear ftfl,

Two months after our child was born in Canada; we went out of country for few months after that my wife and I returned to Canada while our child is with my parents out of Canada. My parents are expected to land in Canada in probably next 6 months as landed immigrant. My question is, do I have to notify CCTB as well as OHIP about my child's out of Canada status? And what forms do I have to fill and notify them.

Thanks

Ecom

Dear Ecom,

Your child was born in Canada. You should have all of the Certificates and (Passport or) the travel documents etc., You are now ready to file the application. If you have not done up to now, Please apply as soon as you can. They also know where the child is!
Now for the eligibility: "The child must live with you". Since the child is away, there are procedures to follow and for the exact procedures to contact CCTB, I will provide you with their exact phone numbers, and for the OHIP, I will provide you with a general Government of Ontario phone numbers from whom you can get the exact links to the particular offices.

CCTB: 1-800 267 5177 TOLL FREE
1 613 952 3741 Local, if you live in Ottawa.

Inquiries: Govt.Of ONTARIO
1-800 267 8097 ask for OHIP #
416 326 1234 if calling local.

When you get hold of the correct people ask them about the forms and the procedures.

Hope this helps,

Freddie.

Side note: This is for your Parents who will be traveling with your child: Write out 'a letter of permission', stating that they have both your permission to travel out of the country, with your child and get it attested by a Notary Public. Send it to them just to get their travels started. They cannot do without it. This is for your information. Good Luck. Freddie.
