Hi All,

Is there a cheap place in GTA to rent power tools for a few hours for doing stuff at home?
Is renting a good option or buying a good option? This is drill holes and then nails into walls etc.

It depends on the job you are looking to do. If required to drill holes in the wall it is sensible to buy a drill. It all also helps in putting screws in the wood.

If you are looking to compac the screening for patio stones then it is advisable to rent it for $45 day.

If you do not want to do jobs around the house or not a handy man then hire somone from outside to do your job.

BUT in today's world it is smarter to be handly man or woman. AND if you want to become a handy man, you need to buy certain essential tools for your workshop

Many of the tools that we buy for use, when once used for ONE little job, it is considered that it is paid off. At the end of the day you learn how to use it and when finished it becomes free, when you equate the costs of renting or availing the services of a Handy Man. If you ever have to start on a similar job, then you know you have all of the tools and the skills that go with it.

There are a lot of Handyman Books and manuals that are available for reading at the libraries and you can also find a a few copies at other markets from time to time.

Here is a small help with the drills and how we can use them to our advantage.

XScargo has a selection worth looking at. It might suit your pocket too. It is better to buy a portable one depending upon the usage. If it is a battery operated, then you will have to keep using it regularly or remove the battery pack and keep it charged and ready.
The DRILLS are the Machines. The one that helps us make the HOLES are called the BITS. They all come in different sizes and the best that you will need is available at the dollar store, for a buck. They are good for one use. But they do not have a sharp tip and hence you may be able to get a better set at the hardware stores such as Canadian Tyre Store. They will last and last for a good while.

Once you buy these items DO NOT Loan them to others. Just on principle.

Have a nice long week end.

It won't work on emergencies or for immediate needs... but if u r a frequent visitor to Canadian Tire, you can get many tools at cheap prices. Watch out for hourly and daily specials.

Don't try something you are not familiar with. Better hire a Handyman and get it done professionally. And take up a seconf job to pay for the HAndyman .
