CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH ON THE NEW ADDITION TO THE FAMILY.

Step # 1 : What you must get from the hospital, since you do not have a Birth Certificate.

Name of the hospital. Make sure that the Mother and the Child are released and are allowed to FLY. They need a clearance from the doctors. Also from the family Physician.
The Doctors in Attendance : Name and Qualifications and the post that they hold if you know at that hospital. Their contact addresses with phone number etc., ( As many items as possible)
Time of birth.
Date of birth.
Parents names.
The child's Name. The one that you gave the child.
Passport Pictures of the BABY
Get them attested by a guarantor, also the Passport application Form.
You also need a guarantor who will sign those pictures as 'true'.
TRY AND GET ALL OF THESE ON A HOSPITAL LETTER HEAD SIGNED BY AN OFFICIAL THERE.

Step # 2 : Contact a Ticketing Agent and see how soon you can get a Flight
OUT of Canada to your area near by at HOME there. Try and reserve a
Bulkhead seat with a skycot for the BABY. Get a Baby Pouch for the baby to
be carried by the Mother, (In front). Also get a corset or a back support too. And see if your wife is comfortable with it by wearing it and do a practice run.
Provide the airlines with the Babies' food requirements. Also Mothers. Ask for
assistance at the air ports for the group with the airlines. Get a Baby stroller.

Step # 3 : Go to any Pharmacy with a Post Office, they are open till mid night.
Please get a Passport Application form for kids under 18. (For Minors)
You need Passport Pictures of the Baby. So find out a photographer who can do it and had done it for others.
Fill in all of the details that you can. (Most of it anyway)
Take it to the guarantor and get all of the items filled in.
(Please keep a photocopies of all of the items after completion.)

Step # 4 : You first need a Canadian Passport. Locate an Office nearby.
But they will not issue you one through the Express (Lane) System, unless
you have a confirmed ticket to fly with a date on it. The fee will be about $80 +
Tell them you will RETURN back and PICK IT UP. Ask for the Date it will be
READY. (They accept Credit Cards) Then pick them up.

Step # 5 : Call the Indian High Commission nearest to you,. They DO NOT
Respond to phone calls normally. So, Either e-Mail or Fax to them a letter
requesting for a Visa "URGENT" quote the situation in your e-mail or the Fax.
Ask them to provide you with a contact name and address since the situation
warrants one in these urgent issues.
Find out the requirements. Get the application ready. Get the Fees that need to
be paid with an M.O. or a Demand Draft.
Have everything ready to submit together with the CANADIAN PASSPORT to
the Indian High Commission for the Visa. They will issue you with one with in
24 Hours.

Step # 5 : Prepare for the flight, paying due care and attention to the Baby's
needs. Travel as lightly as possible under the situation. If the little one can
troll an overhead bag under 7 kgs then, it will be of immense help in their travels.

I am sure you do have one of the Car seats for the new born. Some of them
could be added to the wheels and get converted to a stroller. See if it can be
used as both.

Have all of the documents and Passports ready for travels. A credit Card and currencies that you will need during the travels and at the other end.

Hope this helps a little.

Good luck.

Freddie.

U gets all the legal steps, but I wanna put some input on babies care.

I am assuming you will travel in month or so by the time your baby will be around month.

Make sure to go see doctor ask for special Vaccination to travel , IMP take baby tynalon or tempra recommended by doctor, it will help baby sleep well in plan also help protect your baby from weather changes and dust. start giving her medicin 4 hours before you travel , keep this until u reach india.

Trust me it helps Just recently I took my five weeks baby to india and come back we peace of mind.

Make sure you don’t take her out much, I am assuming she is taking mom’s milk so mom has to be very careful with drink and food in India. Mom should always drink boiling water (mineral water will not help much)

Keep her away from touching by others

Make sure you have A/C in car while travelling from airport to home , at home you keep your baby mostly in AC room or cold room ( baby doesn’t like heat- if room is cold you can wrap up nicely with worm cloths.

Buy JOLI old style Indian Palanu ( baby swings) , it will help you make baby sleep well.

That it for now.

To add to meetonline (and I have said this a number of times on CD...)
It is not advisable to take an infant below 3 months on a long haul flight ( and I would doubt if it is 5 weeks or 5 month baby as said by meetonline.)
The most important thing is to take the baby to the doctor and check for ear infection a week before travel date. It is said that if the baby has ear infection and it travels on flight, there are chances that the infants ear drums may burst ! So take care. It needs atleast 24 hrs. for the medication to work on the baby. So a week is safer.

Peace

Congratulations on new arrival.

* Its too early, but see if Pacifier is an option. They say, its better if babies are sucking on to something while Take Off or Landing. These are the only times when Infants are cranky otherwise traveling with young infant is way better than a year old infant.

* See if you can find a company. I travelled Jet AirWays with Friend & her 3 months + 3 yrs. Virtually Trouble Free. Company is not nicessary, but just peace of mind for you.

* Make sure you ask for basinet seat when you book your tickets for both legs. Even if they confirm, Checkin Early to get your hands on Basinet.

* Your 6 yrs Old will be a great help. As Freddie said, Travel light. One small Hand carry (something that your son can pull easily), Diaper bag. Stroller may not be that handy as it needs to go on belt for security check at every other step. It will be hassel for single (unless you get some help from the staff itself). Instead of stroller try Baby Sling Carriers (baby will stay close to mother & still hands free) - http://www.babyuniverse.com/JJ-Cole-Premaxx-Carriers/PID/4782834/ctid/17/INstock/Y/D/?_ts=B007

* Talk to your Doctor about Flight & Vaccination

I'll put some more as when I recall.

Have a Safe Flight.
