If you take the baby to the mall you can take it to Niagara falls.

I must say U r so stubborn and hard time accepting facts, what do u want to prove? Once I said I recently visited with 5 weeks old baby then u should accept the facts. Why would someone lie about their own child?

I think this link will discourage others to travel (long haul flights) with infants until atleast 18 month~ 2years (the longer the better).

I dont know what kind of EMERGENCY anyone can have, the most common 2 that come to mind are :

1. Medical emergency of a close family member
2. High value financial issue

For reason #1, I agree its an emergency - but the decision is between a relative's life and your own infant's life - what is your priority?

For ALL other emergencies, one of the 2 parents can travel alone, there is no 'compulsion' for the mother and infant to travel - unless you value your job more than the life of your infant.

Fatalities may not happen all the time, but even if 1/100 effects you/your infant, its a huge risk to take - something which could have been avoided.

I hope good sense will prevail. I pray for the lost life.

Each Airline has their own baggage allowances. They are the ones who make their own rules and they also change it from time to time.

Here is JET Airways website and their baggage allowances. Please go through the web page in detail and make note of their changes that they brought in and the weight restrictions imposed.

Prior to booking with any airline, please check their website for all of the specifics that they allow and provide to travelers. Look for site map and the subject matter. The few minutes that you take to explore and get to know them will help you immensely in your selection and the decision you make in using them and their services. Also note that there is a feature that they call as CODE Sharing, which means that they can throw you onto the other airlines that you did not anticipate.

Any age when you feel confident is safe to travel but prefer if infant can hold his/her neck. If you travel before 6 months then most airlines will surely give you bassinet (on request) for the infant and if above 6 months, they may not give depending on the availability. You of course should request bassinet in any case. If baby is around 12 months then it is difficult to let them sit at one place for such long time and if 12 months old it is preferable that you buy a seat for the 12 month old baby (under 2 years old baby are not required to buy a seat and can travel on the lap of an adult).

Any season is ok and also depends on where you will be travelling in India. August to March should be ok for most of India.
