I am planning to order magicjack and to use as primary residence number at Ottawa?

Not a very good idea to use it as a primary number / The drawbacks are dropped calls when too much of traffic , PC shud be on to operate , difficult to connect sometimes . 911 services cannot be accessed in Canada.

Let me know if anyone have better choice than this. I don't mind to keep my computer ON for 24 hrs.

I've following question for magicjack.

1) As I can connect cordless to this device, I must be able to dial the number stored in cordless memory. Am I right?
Yes

2) Are they provide canadian local number now?
Not yet

3) Are they charging to change the number if I'll move to another city and prefer to have the local area code?
First change of no. is free and than chrgbl . I am still trying to figure out how to reach them though .

4) If I'll call from my cell phone to magicjack number, my cell phone service provider (FIDO) charge me long distance rate?
Depending on your no. ( which will be US for now , u will end up paying LD if u call from any other phone .

5) Are they saving our credit card number to charge for renewing license after 1 year?
No they are not saving the card . You have to rqst the extension with CC card info when rqrd .

Thanks in Advance..

Thanks AshwaniG.

I am thinking to buy (in this week) two devices to save $15 on shipping charge. One for me and one for my family in India. I am going to use Device-1 imediately and My family will start to use Device-2 from December 2008. I hope Device-2 will work till December 2009 and then I'll have to renew a license. Am I right?

How safe to give credit card information to this company?

I am thinking to open paypal account for this txn. But I don't know how much paypal will charge me for this txn. Any idea?

Thanks in Advance.

IF I am not mistaken than the first day starts from when you activate/register the account so you are safe that way .
As I mentioned earlier it is pretty safe to use your credit card .
In event of a fraudulent use Credit card company is liable for loss .
Paypal does not charge anything from the buyer . It is a responsibility of seller to pay the commission .
Hope that clarifies ..

I want phone to phone capabilities using computers and Hi speed internet, dont want to use computer headsets.
Folks from India should be able to call me free as well as any other North American phone number using a phone adapter connected to their computer and Hi speed internet.
Can magic jack do it?
If yes what is approx total cost including that of adapters, yearly fee for two sets etc.?
Secondly what similar choice exists to call any number including cellphones in India?
