CRA is likely to reassess all tax returns of 2005/2006 for those who donated money to GLGI /ICAN as per the recent email of ESCROWAGENT. The donation money has gone down the drain. We know we have been cheated by GLGI/ ICAN. Is there anybody who has any plans to go for any kind of litigation or can CRA leave the interest portion or can we get any kind of relief from CRA in this kind of case . Any advice on this issue wud be appreicated.
I too would like to know that. We just received our reassessment from CRA and it doesn't look good. Waiting to hear from our accountant who initiated this donation in the first place.

sebastian--we r badly sunk. I just sent two advance cheques to CRA for pending reassessment of 2005 and 2006. When they do reassessment of tax returns for 2005 and 2006 , I will file objection to that reasssessment. This process wil take 3 or 4 more years. At least I will be saving interest of 8 percent by sending advance cheques for pending reassessment. Forget accountants,they will not show thier face now as they got their commission
It is of course a very scary situation for all GLGI donors and I was going thru one forum link below on which someone mentioned about some kind of complaint that one can file to ombudsman office who takes complaints against CRA, not to timley inform the community about any such programs (tax shelter) schemes.

Cosidering the taxpayers right, " the right to expect the CRA to warn you about questionable tax schemes in a timely manner." It would seem most of us who participated in these schemes prior to 06 have a legitimate beef.
It was suggested that few complaints regarding this matter have come to the attention of the ombudsmen.
My advice to any of you who find yourself in my position, fill out the form and complain that the CRA made no effort to inform you in a timely manner, no efffort at all in fact, about the questionable tax scheme you were involved in. Obviously each addition complaint sent to the Ombudsmen will make a difference.
So I would urge all the donors to file a case against CRA about the approach taken in this regard by not informing well ahead of time for such tax shelter schemes. Put as much info. as possible from the time someone donated, the letters received from GLGI, the letters confirming legitimacy of the program and PM's and Premiers letters opening the Data centres in Toronto etc. up until today when the reasesments came from CRA.
Lets' inform each of the donors to send in complaints to this ombudsman office so Desi's can be heard.

I think that you should find something better to do, then complain about something that has saved you tax money by using the GLGI program.
CRA has not forced you to pay back any money, and my guess is if you keep filing your NOB, you will never have to pay back your tax savings. Just come out and tell us the truth. YOUR SCARED OF THE BIG BAD WOLF (CRA).
Please show me where CRA has won in court and people have been forced to pay back any money or interest to CRA. Hasnt happened, and never will!!
Also, ICANS tax receipts were honored, and I have to proof and the savings.
Sounds like alot of sour grapes, its alright to be scared but not to be stupid!!!
