Hi Guys,

In the present scenario of US slowdown, I would like to know if it has affected H1B/TN hiring/visas or not? These days we are getting news from all quarters, be it economy, banks, wall street, but what about H1b/TN visas? May be I am stupid to ask this question, as I too know that the economy slowdown is directly proportional to the state of affairs of the companies and it's hiring practices.

I have been thinking about it for the last few days and then thought to pop-out this question on CD. May be all could benefit from it. I am yet to come across any article on this topic. It would be interesting to know about the situation of H1B/TN hiring and people already working on H1 in US these days?

The US economy is in shambles right now. And it is affecting the job market for sure.

I've switched employers recently..and I am on TN. Another guy I know just got a job as a Database Admin...he is on his first TN...after wasting 3 years in Canada, taking up all the odd jobs, he finally got to do what he has done for a long time and always wanted to do.

On the other hand I know a guy who has 8 years of experience as a SAP consultant and is looking for a project since last 7 months.

So I guess it all depends on your skill set and the demand...luck plays a major role as well along with your ability to talk.

I am in the oilfield and am in USA now. We are having difficuty in recruiting people. Even if we recruit and train them many are leaving. This situation is during bad economic times in USA. Imagine the situation when the economy is good. We would not be able to recruit anyone. Inspite of the fact that oil industry is a very good paying industry.

I guess the affected industries are auto and finance . The oil industry is booming.

Why wait for the effects from the economic slowdown.

What about the change from the elections.
If you check the details of Obama campaign, he wants to dramatically change the NAFTA agreement. That is for sure going to effect the TN Visa category.
