Just a quick thought, Did you check the pressure at the hospital, how many times you checked, Did you check at different intervals and then at home also.
For many, the pressure is close 30 points high when in Hospital and recedes to normal level.
In India, I see Doctors jump into conclusion within 10 minutes and immediately prescribe medicine without understanding the anxiety of the patients...
Are you going through any major stress (don't need to discuss that) or any major chnange, often such changes impact.

The weak died on the way,
Only the strong arrived.

I concur with JRF.
My blood pressure was high when I first went to the family physician for a physical. I was fine the subsequent visits.
My advice to you would be to get it checked more than once or twice. More importantly, get a physical to know your cholesterol level.
Other than that, Goldfinger has covered all prevention measures.
Cheer up...you are very young and you will fight this
Do not resort to medication unless your family physician says so...
There are many types of blood pressures.
1) If your blood pressure is due to over weight and lack of exercise then it can be lowered by physical activity.
2) If it is due to kidney problems then it is cured by treatment by a doctor
3) If it is due to having hard artery walls (Herdeditary) then there is no option other then taking medicine al you life .
Better consult your physician instead of advice from CD forum.
