I have a question about consulting companies like Ajilon, Robert Half etc.
I am a software programmer with about 5+ years of JAVA, J2EE development experience and am planning to move to Canada for employment. If a try for jobs through some of these consulting companies - would I have get a salary directly from the company that I am working for? Or would it be similar to the process here in the US, where some of these companies just give you only a portion of the pay?
How does it work there in Canada? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
When going thru agencies, if it's a full-time job, they negotiate the salary and get paid by the hiring firm, so you don't pay anything. You will get an offer letter from the hiring firm directly and will deal with them directly there on.
OTOH if it's a contracting assignment they retain upto 50% of the pay. Now that 50% is negotiable, I've known of cases where they ony retain about 20%.
