The top item on my wish list is a good audio system(not compact or integrated).

Budget:$500 to $800

I will be one of those gate crashing losers on Boxing Day and since there are so many great stores to choose from, I'd like to pick the one offering best sale and stocking suffcient quantities of those items.

Anybody suggest good place to shop for the above mentioned equip? I have shortlisted Future Shop, BestBuy and Source City.

Whats your opinion on refurbished audio systems?

Future Shop and Best Buy sell packages for the most part. And for the average being, I think it will be more than enough. If you are a sound aficionado however who is very picky on the quality down to the decibel, down to the twang, then there are other places like Bay Bloor Radio that sell high-end systems like Nakamichi, Bang&Olufson, Energy etc...

By good audio system, I am assuming you will want:

a. Good receiver capable of taking HDMI inputs and producing HD sound
c. Satellite or floor speakers - 2 rear channels, 2 front channels, a subwoofer and a center channel

The packages in FS and BB have more in their receivers like a Blu-ray player etc...so it just depends on what you want in your "system"

Your budget will get you a fairly good system! Good luck and keep us posted...cheers...

I wanted to buy Sony Home-Theatre on Boxing Day.We went to Sony showroom yesterday to select the model so we were told that if price drops down till 31st DEC...you can come back and take refund of difference. So I bought it!
