CD's,
I am planning to write a memoir that will mainly concentrate on my 5 years at Architecture school and my fight with my relatives. The name of the memoir is ' To set the record straight' - By Murali The Krishna. It is mainly to be distributed among my Architecture school friends and among the family members who are in good terms with me. I canot guarentee if it eventually will fall on the hands of my relatives who donot like me.
Has anyone done it before and can advise on any tip?
Also if I use my relatives name in the memoir, can they take legal action on me. For example, if I say that my dad's brother (my dad has only one brother and donot use his real name), am I legally free from any defamation cases and the like. I would also like to use my Architecture schools professors incidents where they did not teach well and bunked classes while getting cent. govt. salary.
Any advise appriciated.

Murali The Krishna

Relatives who are in good terms one time, have misunderstanding with us later on. And with those with whom we had a big argument, we have to patch up for different reasons.

Nobody is interested how much we are in the right and how much we have been wronged. Other relatives are hands full with their own problems and if they have to get some things done from persons who wronged us, people will not hesitate to have us sold down the river. At the same time, if we are financially and social status-wise strong, they may also try to be on good terms with us.

The truth is, it is all Maya, we have to keep chanting God's name even and especially when we enjoy good health, do good to people around us without expecting anything in return and be ready to leave when the time comes.

TK... If your relatives are celebrates / rich .... you can expect trouble.
They can go for a “Defamation” case which requires that what you write is untrue. As you know defamation means a written or spoken statement of fact that is false and injurious to someone’s reputation that is communicated to another person.
So, if what you write in your memoir is true, it is not defamation. You know book publishers do some checking to make sure that statements in books they publish are indeed true.

In case you will write memoir with name "Murli The Krishna" which I presume is not your real name, It will not be a memoir which otherwise author writes about himself but advantage of writing such a 'memoir' with fake name is that any defamation case will be proved null and void against you.

What is the real purpose behind writing this memoir ?

San Hugo,
My main reason of writing my memoir is to give an unbiased perspective of my life. Besides, I am known among my friends for my humor. So it will also include the humor that happened in lifr.
Basicially it is for someone to understand what my life was like and how I have tried very hard in helping others and not exploit anyone.
I am still undecided if I should use my real name or use my CD name. Trying to get some online lawyer feedback. My memoir will include all the atrocities done by my relatives and I am trying to see that I tell the truth and as well as not get into any legal problems.
Any further help would be much appriciated.
I am trying to see if I should write it down (as typing is more time consuming) and get someone to type it. It can be released as an e-book or if I should voice record it and give it to someone to type it.
