hi

you know one thing that japanese are more consious
about quality than americans. That's why people prefer
japanese car compare to american.
someone say all japanese car which built in usa and canada,
are assembled with parts manufactured here, that's right

but all japanese companies management people are japanese.
they hold the management and follow the procedure to get the
same quality as car assembled in japan. they never compromise
for that.

bye

I think the quality control goes the same for both the cars. even americans do not believe in compromise for quality.
The basic difference is the design and technology knowledge. japanese are good in design of engines and systems in terms of efficiency and effectiveness.

Quote ******* The Japanees Cars will cost you - 3750 (may be more)
The Ford one will cost you: 2250 (may be less)
******************************************

True, but You also have to figure depriciation factor. A Toyota bought for $3750 will still fetch You atleast $2000 after 2 or 3 years whereas if the Ford fetches more than $600 after 2 years, You'd be lucky.

I think we are just used to seeing Japanese cars in our countries. We are scared of changing to American cars. I recently bought a Ford Explorer and I am extremely satisfied with the buy.

And as for the depreciation. I bought my Camry for $24K 3 years ago. I sold it for $15K recently.

If you bought a Camry for 24 k, obviously it must have been used car - I think about 3 years old? right? Now how much did you spend on repairs and maintenance during the 3 years you kept it? If you compare it with a similar American car (3 year old and then next three years usagae), more often than not you will find that the total amount spent - depreciation and repair costs - will be much higher than that of a Japanese car.

This proves two things - first - the expense of running an American car is more and secondly, it gives you more headaches in terms of frequent repairs.

So unless you are a person who buys (or leases) new cars every three years, it is wiser to go for Japanese cars. They are more reliable and smoother - requiring less repairs. And this is not only my opinion - but also opinion of two persons I am very close to - one my school friend and an engineer with Ford responsible for buying parts, and second one my brothe in law, also an engineer, with GM (both in Detroit.) Infact they admit that since they themselves are not allowed (sort of ) to buy Japanese cars, the spouses in their and their friends' families buy Japanese cars even though being employees, they can get good discounts for new cars from their companies!!

Hi ,

Of late since I was thinking of buying a car I started visiting this wonderful site http://www.carsurvey.org which has owner reviews 4m around the world (in thousands and genuine) .highly recommended.

Few facts come out for sure in Jap v/s rest of the world cars !

1. Japs are most quality conscious . Toyota has worldwide undisputed reputation . I guess the same goes for Honda & Nissan as well. Personal favorites -- Toyota Corolla / Honda Civic / Nissan Sunny .
2. Japanase cars are known to run for years ---- trouble free requiring minimum replacement maintenance .
3. Another fact which is not mentioned so far - spares --- due 2 the high sales of these cars \"not original\" quality spares are available @ lesser costs thereby further reducing spare costs .
4. I have heard this statement much repeated \" Trust the Japanese for long lsting engines \" . Its the technology and the parts combined .
5. A new Neon costs less then a Corolla but the maintenance is almost nil in a Corolla as copared 2 a Neon .
6. Japs do have an enviable record in electronics and automotives .

Of course that s no blind suggestion--- u have 2 look 4 the mileage and other factors not withstanding .
