I want to know how much time a family gets on an average after passports are stamped to enter canada.I have heard it is 1 year from either the date of medical call or the date when all final medical reports of the whole family reach CIC. Can we request to extend this date for any reason? If yes then how.

Just go by the date stamped on your PR visa - that's the bottom line.

I have /heard/ that it's possible but don't know of anyone who has successfully done this.
Why do you want to extend the visa date?
You can always complete your landing and go back and finally move when you are ready.
