I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in.
ask for feedback. if someone you know and trust tells you that your accent is understandable and sounds pleasant then I wouldnt change it.
If you have a very thick accent and want to practice,I have colleagues from other countries that have found Toastmasters to be very helpful.
Our accent is what makes us unique. I find accents, especially indian accents very charming. Plus, when you try to emulate a canadian accent its very OBVIOUS.
Be yourself. People respect that too :-)

A historical place may be an archeological site or an ancient monument or structure with some sort of heritage, cultural or aesthetic values linked with it. Here is a listing of some of the historical places of Canada as I could research out

Hello sville,
Thanks for your time and interest in this topic and contributing whatever possible from your side, appreciate that.
It seems you are disappointed, I am replying this to your disappointment on 'Places related to desis' remark. If these answers below are still not convincing to you, please elaborate your views to very precise points so the matter does not get spread into other topics and subjects not relevant to the scope of this whole concept.
1) The focus was on only Canadian historical places, and I have listed what I could find from my research and spending time on it, if you know something which I could not find, please share, as commented related to desi places, but only if its is recognised as a Canadian historical one, please highlight, including me many others here will be happy to know about it, be my guest.
2) Too hard over integration: Integration it self means one is carrying its identity w/o diluting it and bridging it with other cultures, customs, traditions and way of life in a balanced harmonic manner. By the way integration is not imposing, its adaptivity and flexibility.
3) North America land of immigrants: Yes it is of course a land of immigrants, but it is so what its today due to integration else would have been some fighting colonies and would not have been where its now.
Just to add, a recent article I read which is somewhere little bit related to language, pronunciation, local way of saying etc and thats none other than the practice followed by US President. If you have time please read the article which i saw it on net with the title [Obama, a stickler for pronunciation]

Hi all there,
Bonjour !
French - I had not touched this under the Language category.
The below link is a good source for knowing a brief history and its use
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_language
The next link below is a very good source for learning french, specially for starters.
http://www.bonjour.com/
Starts with greetings and courtesies, then continue with alphabet, numbers, days, months and seasons, question words, quantities, weather and time, asking for help, emergencies, banks, taxis, restaurants, transportation, finding your way, touring, places to see, socializing, some famous French expressions.
Its also has a playback option for all the words and sentences, so it makes it easy to listen and practice.
Merci ! (Thank you)
A bientôt ! (See you soon)
PEACE ALWAYS
