Hi guys,

We're presently renting in North York, but would like to own a place in Mississauga. We saw a townhome on Britannia and Ninth Line that we really liked. However we both work in downtown Toronto. Do you think all the daily commute time by Go transit would make any sense at all? Besides all our friends are in and around the Square One area.

All your thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated.

You have call some place "home" at some point right? :) Work will change, friends will move, life goes on. Objectively speaking, That area in Mississauga is pretty nice. Have you checked Townhomes closer to Square One? Maybe around 403 and Hwy-10. Or Eglinton and Hwy-10. Or Dundas/Mavis have some relatively new ones...all these are pretty close to Square One and some GO station or the other. But GO tickets aren't cheap...you would have to factor that in for sure...

Have you tried GO transit? Give it a try. Compare with TTC/subway. Talk to your friends/coworkers using GO transit.
From what I have learned, GO transit is lot better than TTC. Less rush. Less crowd. Lot peace. And yes, a hell lot expensive. Avg GO-pass costs approx $220.

Since it's on Britannia, see if you have direct bus (Mississauga transit) to any of nearby GO stations. You can eliminate car/drive to GO station. (Since both of you work downtown, does that matter? better off driving?) I suspect GO-commute time from that area to be around 40-60 mins each way.
How do you see your life living in that area? Can you sacrifice a lil more commute time over that life?
By definition, if you are late-to-bed-and-late-to-rise type person, GO transit from west-mississauga might not be your cup of tea. BTW, half of the train gets packed by Erindale (before 8am).
Do you plan to continue working in downtown? for years and years to come?
It's a tough decision. It's your call. Good luck!
